Okay as a stop over site

If you have children (including teenagers) this is NOT the site for you. Compared to our recent stay at Godrevy, this site was extremely UN-child friendly. Also, the dog area? What dog area? It was so small, put one cockapoo in there and it's full. Really. Everyone went off site to toilet their dogs. And (consequently??) dogs were barking/yapping at all hours. The facilities were clean for our first couple of days. But as soon as the site got busier, the cleanliness went down drastically. It was quite shocking. As much to do with other visitors not caring about others as extra cleaning being needed. Upon arrival we were offered a large pitch with extra green area. Yay we thought! But no. We were right on the reception. So most new arrivals with dogs thought it was okay to toilet the dogs outside the front of our awning. Also, ALL late arrivals ended up parked right outside our front window all night. We read lots of reviews about Mandy and Sue being super friendly, but that certainly wasn't the case during our stay. Perhaps it's simply children they don't like? Even if said children are mature, quiet, no trouble at all teenagers. Or perhaps they were having a stressful week? Whatever it was, we've certainly stayed at much friendlier sites in the past. It was our first visit and sadly I have to say it was also our last. If you are in the area, a wonderful place to eat is Otter Valley Kitchen Simply superb food and really friendly staff too. Cannot recommend that highly enough. The Somerset Steam Railway Excursion is a really lovely day too. We would like to revisit Somerset again. But not the Ilminster club site.
