Something for everyone; a lovely site

Incleboro Fields draws many rave reviews. There are pros and cons, but the point about Incleboro Fields is that it tries hard to satisfy us all by having an eclectic mix of pitches, including little micro sites set among trees, spread over a huge area and on varying levels. Being near the sea with lots to do in the area and good public transport close by it is easy to see why the site is a favourite of many. There’s no doubt the site is highly appealing. It is spread over a very big area and some will find it a good walk, with some significant gradients, to a service point, a toilet block (despite there being four), and, especially, reception. All pitches, bar six serviced pitches, are grass; grass pitches are anathema to me personally, but I completely understand that many prefer this or are indifferent about it. I had read many references to uneven pitches and, walking around the site, I can only confirm this. I enjoyed a service pitch, which are hard standing and very capacious and really truly excellent. In this place, they are well worth the extra money in my view. One new phenomenon to me, a consequence of the immense size of this site, is that many brought their cars to the toilet block near the entrance – usually, but not always, on their way in and out of the site. Being close to this facility, the frequent coming and going, car doors banging, became a small negative. Another minor negative was the recurrent sound of machinery - starting around 8 am from the adjacent golf course. Added to the site machinery, tractors, mowers, blowers, etc. keeping the place in good order, which one can hardly justify whining about, some might find this annoying. One reviewer below certainly did but, like the loo stop-overs, such issues only slightly blemished one’s enjoyment of the site and it’s quite wrong to say this noise was constant. Wifi was better than normal for club sites, TV was good but some freeview channels were missing. The rail station, on the Bittern Line with trains to Norwich, is a short walk. The buses, with various services to various destinations, are only a little bit further away. The village of West Runton is pleasant with a decent general store and there is access to the beach. There are many good walks. I walked to Sheringham on the beach and back on the road - about five miles round trip. I met four of the eight wardens; they were most friendly, informative and, judging by the overall cleanliness and quality of the site, conscientious. Many wanting to come to this area may, like me, be undecided whether to choose Incleboro or Seacroft – just two miles away towards Cromer. Both are lovely and it will depend on your main objectives. I imagine in school holidays Seacroft will be noisy and busy; at Seacroft buses are immediately outside the gate but trains are further away; Seacroft is more open, brighter and closer to the sea. Incleboro will be the favourite for those hoping to pitch away from it all. I enjoyed both.
