Picadilly Circus

Despite the CMC description this is the most noisey caravan site I have ever stayed on. Located as it is right on the junction of the A832 & A986 on the NC500, there is a constant stream of HGV's, motorcycle groups and other vehicles coming to a grinding halt and accelerating away from 6am until early evening. Whilst the pitches are a good size they are odd shapes and the EHU poles are poorly located, we needed an extension to our power lead to reach, and on the only available pitch that we could fit our twin axle van on it was not possible to pitch r/o/s to the peg and achieve the requisite 5m distance from the (realatively small) campervan next to us. Booked 4 nights but left early, very disappointed.

Comment from the Club:

We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay and left early. The site staff have been in touch as they want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time when staying with them and were not aware of your concerns during your stay. They are sorry to read that you found the road noise disturbing. This has not been a problem before in their experience as the site is usually very peaceful with birdsong including cuckoos waking them up every morning. There were a couple of days of logging a couple of weeks ago with  2 or 3  trucks a day on the road but these were not early in the morning. During the heat wave there some serious fires on the hills and peninsula set by wild campers with fire engines attending. This increased the traffic over a week. They do have motorcycle groups going past now and then but please be assured it's not constant. With regards to the site layout, the site is organised into 7 areas all different shapes and the pitch sizes are generous. All pitches are within 25m distance to an EHU bollard and guests choose their own pitch from those available on arrival and the site staff are more than happy for people to move to another pitch during their stay. The fire gap is 6m and the site staff walk the site to check everyone is safely pitched. Please note that the shop sells 25m full Club specification hook up cables if needed. We hope this addresses your concerns and the site staff are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay with them.

We were booked to stay on 3rd and 4th June and I fully agree with your comments re the noise. This was made worse by the club having booked about 50% of the site out to a film production company for a week I think from 2nd June. This must have been done at a senior level and I am making a formal complaint about it as it was clearly against members interests and totally unacceptable. The wardens had been placed in a very invidious position which they dealt with admirably; there were a lot of very unhappy members. We only stayed one night.
