Good for families

Lovely site but not for families

We chose this site for its location we have always loved Knaresborough. On arrival (after 1pm as instructed) we were told to find a pitch with a white peg and told this was very important, we drove around the site 3 times and the only pitch we could find with a white peg was on a very small grassed area. Our caravan is 23ft long and there was no way it was big enough along with the awning and car. So we drove back around again and was told to go on another grassed area with a blue peg?! Which was by the Wardens 'house' which is obviously a last resort. The hardstanding pitches did look lovely and spacious but unfortunately the site had overbooked for those. When we were finally pitched and set up we decided to take our 3 year old to the 'playarea' this consisted of a piece of grass with a slide on it and some monkey bars that looked like they had been there for 25 years without a lick of paint. She seemed happy enough but I can`t understand how this can be allowed to be advertised as a playarea for children, dissapointing for a caravan club site. I also saw the wardens telling children not to ride their scooters etc so  I definately got the feeling this was not really for families. We had booked into the bistro but when we arrived decided against it. The warden is very strict and straight talking, good in some ways I suppose but not others. I could understand if some people took offence to this. They also close the toilets and showers mid morning which is the time when everyone wants to use them which seems like a really odd time to do it. Other than the site we love Knaresborough and the surrounding area. We ended up leaving a night early even though we had paid for it, I doubt we would return.
