Good for families

Quiet and easy to access

One of the better sites, particularly if you have dogs with several on site walks and loads of places to go literally at the gate including onto the grounds of Chirk Castle (NT Castle but grounds free to access). On site walks include 2 woodland walks but unlike some that get muddy or are too short to be called a walk, these are good with one having a well made bark chip path and the other which is longer and has a natural path but in a slope so drains well. The site itself is nicely laid out with 2 cul-de-sac areas under large pine trees and the main area split into two levels, semi circular and again has large trees between them. It doesn't feel crowded at all and there are loads of service points around the site so never too far to walk with the water/waste. Toilet block a little dated but ok (though we generally now use our own facilities so my comment is based on 1 visit). The access is very easy with no narrow roads to negotiate and you can be back on the main A5 or A483 roads within minutes. Apparently the site is due for an "upgrade" this winter/spring 2021/22 with tent pitches and glamping pods being added as well as toilet block improvements. Hopefully the peacefulness of the site won't be ruined by these changes as I'd hate it to become an overcrowded place which would be a complete contrast to the current feel. Would recommend and will return.
