The Friendly Site

We spent two nights at this site in mid February. Situated in a small isolated Borders village with no notable places of interest, you could be forgiven for thinking this site would be disappointing. But this is far from the case. The genuinely warm welcome from the owners Eddie and Shona sets the scene for one of the neatest best kept sites we have visited in 35 years caravanning. From the duck pond to the immaculate toilets and showers, with well tended pitches, this site is a treat. The village may be isolated, but it is self sufficient, and the locals friendly and helpful. Newcastleton boasts two hotels, a pub, a bakers, a butchers, a hardware store with many other interesting enterprises and services including a chemists and medical centre. On level ground, the village is good for walking for even those with mobility problems, and the surrounding countryside is well served by footpaths and mountain bike trails. This site is only 30 miles from home, but we will visit again as the ambience is addictive and the friendly welcome unsurpassed.
