Good for families

High standards as usual but quite noisy

Pleasant and well maintained, as is customary for CMC sites. Helpful and friendly wardens. CMC taking a VERY conservative approach around COVID restrictions which I think are a bit too much, but I’m not complaining. Good wristband system for shower block entry although people occasionally forget to take their band when leaving which is annoying. 3 of 4 washing up sinks closed off and 2/3 of showers and toilets locked to enforce SD indoors. Play park closed and no Tourer Explorer either which seemed a bit OTT as both are outside and permitted generally. Shop also not really open - only for essentials (and no browsing) and no gas. I understand CMC only have safety at heart but I found it a little over-restrictive, particularly as the clientele at these sites are usually very respectful of the rules and other people. But it didn’t detract from a pleasant stay at a nice site. We were pitched close to the road and the road noise we did find quite intrusive, especially with cars with loud exhausts and loud motorbikes speeding up and down in the evenings. Trains could also be heard but they didn’t bother us as infrequent and not that loud. The level crossing near the entrance did cause delays on most journeys but not an issue. Large Morrisons and Tesco both within 5 and 10 mins drive, respectively. With the glorious weather we spent most of our time at the beach - Littlehampton east beach was clean and pleasant although lots of seaweed. We picked a quieter spot away from the main facilities but we did use the toilets, ice cream kiosk and fish and chip shop and all were good. Good facilities and patrolled, but further east is quieter and easier to SD! Bognor beach also recommended - we picked a quieter spot away from the pier near to the (currently unused) Butlins day entrance. Do not recommend Climping beach - basically a building site with no actual building happening - owners pocketing the parking profits but don’t seem to be investing in the maintenance or improvement of the beach. Don’t mind things being rustic (and this place definitely is!) but I felt there were unnecessary hazards everywhere for my young kids and I did not feel comfortable.
