Please stay off my pitch

Lovely site. Stayed on pitch 172....big mistake..loads of fellow members cutting right across my pitch to short cut the route to the toilet facilities. What's happened to etiquette?

A lovely week in looe

We have just completed a week long stay at Looe club site and had a thoroughly good holiday. The wardens were very helpful one stopped us as we toured round to find a pitch to say one had just become available.Thank you it was a lovely pitch and made our week. The shower and toilet blocks were clean with covid rules in place The ice cream van was very convenient and good quality The only question I have is the postcode given on the website seems to be wrong but correct on the journey planner on the club website

Disappointed with people’s respect

Hi must say motor homing withe club over 28 years I am disappointed with the respect people have on the site , they cut across your pitch’s and use the phone on your pitch instead of waiting around very pig ignorant , I don’t blame the wardens as they are doing a excellent job

Swimming pool

I am sorry but after a 300 mile journey we arrived today to find that the pool is not open which was the main reason for booking this site. This really needs to be made more clear on the site as even the warden has explained it’s really difficult to find where it is stated. Not a happy chap.

Lazy Lockdown Looe

Having like many others we spoke to, been given incorrect information about the pool being open, the wardens blamed it on 'Boris'! Not really fair when we have already visited open air pools in the last few weeks. Indeed head office were still saying pools open on site. This appears to be either confusion or laziness by the wardens on site who I see also have messed up with store and pitch as well. Of course we all got charged full price despite lack of open facilities, but I guess that is to be expected so Club can improve facilities. This however is where, Looe, for one has not bothered to use the lockdown to improve facilities. A farcical situation where service points are closed, as they couldn't get a wiring system for showers sorted properly, so now a mass of people queuing at the open water points, chatting , in a non Covid safe way, and dozens of people using same taps. Also, having to watch our older and less able members on disabled pitches having to struggle up and down the terraces. But having stayed on the service pitches a couple of years ago and decided they are just to noisy and shaded due to the play area opposite, we decided to try the new part this year. Well what a nightmare! 1st pitch, drive on ramp on left, dug out gravel on right and still not level. Front legs, 3 inches off the ground, rear legs at maximum with 6inches of blocks. So being one of the idiots that brought a blow up awning with me, no chance to pitch it. Even my Isabella would not have coped with this. 2nd pitch, similar problem. Luckily someone left late on a pitch near toilet blocks, not ideal as no grass area but at least could pitch awning. Why oh why did they not sort pitches during lockdown? You expect to adjust and maintain terraced sites so hardly unexpected. The odd couple of centimetres or even inches is reasonable, but 150 mm or 6 inch over the width of a caravan is ridiculous. And a foot over the length of a 7 metre van is hopeless. I'd happily pay another £10 a night to stay here if pitches were sorted, and pool open. You wouldn't lack customers as people were saying they struggled to book. Get it sorted and charge a market rate until the work pays itself off. The rest of the site looks good but I spoke to some who said grass pitches a nightmare also. But it's grass so I expect that, it's why I always book a hard standing pitch. No apologies from wardens for any shortcomings, just blamed it on Boris! Don't think he lays the pitches.

Caravan Club Shambles re Store & Tow Service

Firstly this is not meant for any reflection on the site. We have not yet visited the site, but the wardens were absolutely charming this morning when we phoned. We were looking for some all year storage and we saw a new service on the Caravan Club Website which offered a Store and Tow Service for £25.00. Perfect we thought for us. But then it went downhill. This it said was currently being offered at both Looe and Ramslade. So imagine our surprise when we asked about Storage and this new service that the Wardens advised that they were not aware that this was being offered at their site. Obviously the Caravan club had not bothered to tell them but was advertising this as a service on their website. I have downloaded a copy. We spoke to the storage team at the Caravan Club this morning and even they were not aware that this service was being offered and had to check the website themselves. What an absolute shambles. They have now gone away to investigate further and they are not sure when someone will come back to us and confirm they are offering this service or not.

Comment from the Community Manager:

We apologise for the miscommunication and we would like to assure that the site staff at Looe are now fully aware of this new service and are more than happy to help with any queries.

Good location well maintained

Good site. Good location for exploring this part of Cornwall. Downside is that even though we went in a period when covid rules meant restrictions i.e showers closed the site fees are very expensive and am wondering if one should look elsewhere for better value. Site staff very welcoming and pleasant.

Nice but secluded

Visited end of September and left a day early as awful weather. We had taken our daughter and four year old grandson and they were bored to death! We would have been fine just us and the dogs but everywhere was too far for them to walk and we didn’t want to move the motorhome so we spent a fortune on taxis. Very nice taxi drivers in the area though. We would have walked everywhere but even to the nearest beach was too far for a small child to walk. Very helpful wardens. We had a hardstanding pitch and to be honest would have been terrified on some of the grass pitches one caravan was balanced on the edge of a huge slope it had me mortified every time I walked last it. Bear in mind take every morsel of food you need as there is absolutely nowhere to buy even a pint of milk or a loaf of bread. Usual COVID Milton system in place. If you want a few days just sitting outside your van in a nice peaceful site doing absolutely nothing this site is perfect.

A Great Autumnal Break

Upon arrival we received a lovely friendly welcome by staff. Payment at reception was smooth with safety measures in place. The site is well maintained with spotlessly clean facilities - use of a band system to gauge how many people are in the facilities at one time ran smoothly, we felt safe at all times. We walked the SW Coastal Path in both directions; access to the path is within walking distance from the site (circa 1.5 miles down a nearby lane eastwards towards Seaton / circa 2.5 miles via Looe towards Polperro). Looe Golf Club is circa 1.5 miles away from the site. Thank You to All Staff.
