Pleasant site in a good location

Enjoyed a pleasant 2 nights at this quiet site in late October. Very pleasant warden. The facilities need updating. The shower cubicles were in poor condition. The site was very muddy. More gravel is needed on the tracks and hard standings. We had an easy stroll into Leyburn, a very nice little town. We used our bus passes on the little white bus from Leyburn to Hawes, a lovely bus ride passing through beautiful scenery and pretty villages. We look forward to another visit, hopefully the showers and roads will be improved by our next visit.

Discover the lesser known Dales of Yorkshire

The setting and area is superb just a twenty minute walk from beautiful Leyburn a Dales town of great character. You can go for the natural gems like the village of Reeth or the noble Richmond or the more obscure folly of the 'Forbidden corner' which is only four miles from the site. Practical implications - narrow approach and steep climb on way out but as long as youre prepared and leave before midday should not be a problem. Friendly welcome from wardens. TV signal a bit patchy with a normal caravan aerial but we went on the high area to help get a better signal. was disappointed with no Wi-Fi on site but just enjoy the peace and quiet instead. Facilites all very clean. Nicely laid out in pitching areas and not regimental. Enjoy but bring your outdoor gear inc boots !!

My favourite site

I have been coming to this and other sites from here to Bognor Regis since 2009 and have always found staff here very friendly and helpful. I am quite severly disabled and have always found the disabled facilities clean and well serviced access to them is better now the radar key service is used as the key is larger than a chub and so is easier to hold and use. I find the site is quite central to go out from to areas such as the lakes (just over about an hour away) also some local attractions such as the ice cream and chocolate factories along with many local castles and places of interest. The site is always clean and tidy with plenty of space between pitches. For anyone who likes seeing steam trains running there are several extreemly good viewing areas both from above on a small bridge or at track level by the pedestian crossing gates just by the site giving excellent oportunities for photographs. Lovely Little Site

A one night stop at this site, very pleasant and helpful staff. We arrived and set up, had a small problem with the electrics, this was easily and quickly resolved with the warden. If anything the site whilst spotlessly clean, it could do with a overhaul, just to bring it in line with all the other club sites, some things are getting a little tired and dated. Having said that we will return in the near future.

Lovely site, friendly wardens

The site was lovely and relaxing, with extremely friendly and helpful wardens. The facilities were a bit tired and in need of some tlc, but there was plenty of good hot water. Also the site was very muddy and as there had not been much rain,I suspect would have been much worse in wet weather, so some gravel would have helped. Easy to walk into Leyburn where everyone was incredibly friendly, which was our experience in all the local places we visited. Lots of fantastic waterfalls, wonderful cheeses, bread and local ales, and a very much loved old steam train. So overall, a lovely stay.

A gem of a site

Tucked away in an old quarry, very quiet and had a peacock walking around the site, how strange is that. Good location for exploring the area, Leyburn is a very country town, market day on Friday and most places are dog friendly. Enjoyed our brief stay, will return.

Recent stay

Super location with very friendly wardens [how it should be]. Ideal base for visiting virtually everywhere in the Dales. We would certainly use the site again. Easy walk into Leyburn up the road and over the fields. Yorkshire Tea Party Cafe is a must to visit - very quirky.

Time to chill

This was our second visit and only for the weekend. I enjoy the peace and quiet of this remote site. Access roads to the site are good and the last few hundred yards into the quarry are fine as long as other drivers are considerate (I seen a lot worse locations). We were unable to get a TV signal but saw others with aerials up so may be just our location. We didn't use the shower facilities this time as just used our van hence the average rating but the general site is very good, and was nice watching the wildlife come out all times of the day.
