Good for families

Great site but poor facilities.

When I arrived here I really really wanted to rate this as a five star site. The site itself is very pretty and beautifully kept with plenty of open space and located on the east bank of the river Wye. There is a great cafe overlooking the river and a useful shop. The bus stop to Hereford is just outside the site entrance. However, my reservations are all concerned with the facilities available. Although the site was nowhere near full there were sometimes queues forming to use the showers and toilets. I dread to think what it would be like if there were many more campers with no access to onboard facilities. In the shower blocks the floors were often saturated due to inadequate drainage. In the showers there are no volume or temperature controls, just a push button that gives a few seconds of preset flow and the flow itself in the different showers varied from rather pathetic to imitation fire hose. I feel that this site just tolerates dogs rather than catering for them. Dogs must be kept on short leads on the whole site. There is just a narrow path to exercise them on, with no facility to let them have a runaround or play chase-the-ball. My dog was quite miserable here. If you are a fan of Neighbours then you need a satellite system as normal reception is poor with the BBC virtually unwatchable, and there is no signal booster system. As a single person I found the cost per night quite expensive, compared with the normal CC sites that I normally go to that have much better facilities. With better facilities this would a fantastic site to visit. Let’s hope the owners realise this is the 21st century and caravaners deserve better.
