At The Top

Stayed at Lydford site 25 June-8 July 2016.  The wardens were At The Top for being friendly, helpful and just downright wonderful.  Three days after our arrival it rained like it was going out of fashion!  The inside of our large awning ended up being partly under water due to the high water table.  We casually mentioned this to the Head Warden Ian, who immediately came to inspect the problem and told us he wanted to help us all he could.  He offered us another pitch, but we loved where we were on a grass pitch in the beautiful field. He provided us with a large tarpaulin, rubber mats and a few other items to enable us to stay dry. He was brilliant. All the wardens were very helpful and friendly all the time and nothing was too much trouble for them. No grumpy faces whatever time of day or night! The site was also At The Top for its location, stunning views from the top of the site, surrounding countryside, local pubs and the dog walk was the best I've ever seen.  The site was immaculate. Lydford village is delightful especially having a pub within walking distance of the site.  Lydford Gorge is amazing. Cycling and walking paths wonderful.  Nearby villages quirky and well worth a visit; again lots of pubs within a short drive with yummy food and excellent beer/wine. We had a delightful holiday in a very peaceful and beautiful area.  Try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
