End of tour site

After a two week tour of Scotland this site was our choice to break the journey home to south Cumbria. The site is well maintained and the pitches large and generally level. As pointed out by others, it does need some attention to the shower/ toilet blocks, which are showing their age, but nonetheless kept extremely clean. It also has a very well positioned motorhome service points. Location wise it is very good for access to Loch Tay and the small towns and countryside around this area. Killin hasn't got a lot going for it to be honest. The Falls of Dochart and the smokery behind a pub near to the Falls are worth a quick visit. The town shops are not too interesting either but that is a personal opinion. We noticed some restaurants/ cafes but all were closed because it was Sunday. We were only there for Sunday and part of Monday (we cut our visit short because of the appalling weather - welcome to Scotland!!) so we didn't do much walking around, but there are some around the local area up to the Loch and back to Killin. On our way back we took a 50 mile detour to see the Crannog Centre - a bit surprised to find that the crannog building had burned down a while ago!
