This is a pleasant site with impeccably clean facilities - a real credit to the wardens. We arrived after dark so were given a night key. As it was dark, we parked up in the very central area, which has good access to the shower block but lacks any real views or pleasantries. We considered moving the next day but having been discouraged from utilising the nicest and quietest part of the site (down beyond the play area) we decided to stay put. I kind of regret this now, particularly as I suspect we were discouraged less for our benefit and more to make the bin collection run a little easier. The site is certainly very peaceful, and if you're after a break where you spend a good deal of time in or around your van, then this would be a good choice, provided you choose a satisfactory pitch. We were out for most of every day, and in retrospect I probably would have gone a little further into the Lake District rather than basing ourselves so far south and out of the way. It was fine for accessing the south lakes but the north lakes were a bit of a long drive for a short break. If you want to visit the local towns, Kendal is lovely. We only saw Grange-over-Sands by night but it seemed a bit of a nothing place really. All-in-all, I'd say this site is well suited to couples who are after the peace and quiet, but is probably not in the right location for families wanting to get out and about, or serious climbers wanting to explore the mountains. PS. Unfortunately, my stay was rather interrupted by the usual intervention of a fellow club member wanting to quote the rules at me. I find this to be the greatest sadness about the Caravan Club. For all its excellence - and we all know the rules are there for a reason to help everyone enjoy their stay - the club does seem to attract more than its fair share of jobsworths, some of whom I would speculate actually come on their holidays especially to snap at the children and look suspiciously at your dog. Lighten up, fellow members, sometimes you have to live and let live.
