Excellent stay

We have stayed at Merrose before and enjoyed our time here. Albeit a lot busier! The park is clean tidy and well maintained . The wardens do a great job . Plenty of Covid precautions in place and most people were abiding by the procedures which was comforting. The site has a mixture of hard standing and a lovely grassy area at the top of the site. There is a lovely farm shop within 10 mins walk stocking fab fresh fish crab etc small amount of frozen meat, deli type produce and a lovely display of fresh fruit and veg . Great walks along the coastal path to Portscatho via the hidden hut . Which got very busy and was a Covid free zone ! Coastal paths were great with stunning views but unfortunately spoilt by inconsiderate dogs owners . A trip to the Roseland Peninsula wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Driftwood Restaurant excellent food service and views! All in all a great site and location . Really enjoyed our stay thank you

Wonderfull the bees knees

This has always been a wonderfully maintained site thanks to the hard work of the wardens especially this year with all the covid restrictions. What a contrast to our stay at Willincott club site .there is always plenty of choice of pitch a little more limited this time but this was only due to covid 19 as the site was far more busy than usual for this time of year. good facilities good sized dog walk. there was fish and chips on site twice a week and stoned fired Pitza once a week both worth a try . For a good sunday lunch try the Roseland inn on the way to the King Harry ferry. Thank you wardens for all your hard work the club should hold onto these wardens.

Keeping connected

we stayed here as part of our current tour. What a brilliant site. We thought our choice of pitch was limited due to the number of guests already on site but we quickly found a perfect pitch with loads of room. The facilities here are superb and spotlessly clean. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. The location is perfect for visits to beaches and towns with the bus stop situated just next to the site. The one thing that always puzzles me is the lack of consistency in site wifi. This site is remote, has trees and buildings, all the things we are told make wifi difficult, the signal here, however is excellent. I know wifi is not one of life's essentials but these days, especially on a long tour, it is important to keep conected without using up all ones data allocation. We would definitely recomend this site.

Wonderful Week on Roseland Peninsula

Having read some reviews about the summer months , prior to booking and staying at Merrose Farm, We were a little apprehensive, but we really wanted to stay in this area and try the campsite. The campsite was always full, but we felt it was well managed and we had no problems with social distancing and never felt overcrowded. Due to the fact that most people used their own facilities, there was hardly ever a queue for the ablution block. We had a fantastic week - the campsite is perfectly situated for walkers and beach goers. We were out every single day without having to travel much distance to explore this wonderful area. We will definately be returning at some point soon

A fabulous location for a staycation!

We went to this site in the middle of August and loved it so much, I shortened the following site so that I could extend our stay - it is a really lovely site in an absolutely fabulous location. We have a motorhome, so walking, cycling and public transport is high on our list. Whilst we didn't cycle whilst here, the Coastal Path is within easy walking distance to reach and easy walking in both directions (we didn't go too far along in either direction, but had a good 40 minutes of walking - as you approach the sea, if you follow the path to the left you can get to a lovely beach with a cafe (go back to the road and follow it down - there is also a little bit of parking available there). We chose to go on to the beach, which is pebbly but beautiful. Social distancing was no problem - there are little coves and a little bit of sand also - swimming and paddling was lovely, as was the weather for sitting and reading for the day (take picnic). Speaking of food, you access the coastal path by crossing the road from the club site and going down through a farm. This Farm has a shop - this was amazing. We had fresh fish each day when we came back from the beach - it sells dressed crab / lobster ready to eat / mackerel / sardines - and the family who own the farm run the shop - just ask for the fish to be filleted and you have fresh fish ready to cook without the mess! Vegetables / honey / jam and marmalade / mayonnaise - even tartare sauce, all freshly grown or made and sold on site in the farm shop. We ate so well it was like restaurant food every night (bring your own capers...). There are bus stops outside the site with one taking you to Truro (we didn't use that route) and St Mawes is the other way - go there! St Mawes is beautiful with shops and restaurants / pubs, but also it has a water bus to Falmouth. This was fantastic! about £5 per person one way, it is a lovely ride across to Falmouth and we loved the shopping there! something for everyone. We bought a cornish pasty and sat looking out to sea - we were lucky to have beautiful weather but I can imaging that Falmouth is atmospheric at any time of year and in any weather. We caught the last ferry back at about 5.15pm and then got the bus in St Mawes back to the site entrance. A beautiful location. We are booked to return... if only for the seafood at the farm shop! And just to add, if you are interested in art then you might be lucky and stay when the farm has an art exhibition on - we loved the beautiful paintings by the artist displaying sea views in bright colours - their son we think... Fabulous.

Great location and friendly, helpful staff

We spent 3 nights at the site last week. We loved the location and went for several long walks each day. The facilities were very clean and tidy at all times. Staff were great, very helpful, friendly and cheerful at all times. We'd like to say a big THANK YOU to the staff for helping to make our stay so enjoyable. Thanks again

Family break

We visited the last two weeks of August, and have stayed at the site many times in the last 18 years. I guess, due to covid 19 restrictions, the site was busier than normal. We had a trouble free arrival, and by chance, we arrived at the site at the same time as our friends ( so 3 caravans in total.) the wardens were extremely helpful, and had highlighted suitable pitches for larger units, so avoided us having to drive round and round. We found 3 pitches relatively close at the very front of the site, to the right of the office. Turned out to be great pitches as sheltered from the frequent high winds! We never used the toilet block or showers, so can’t comment on the system used. The laundry room was immaculate, as always though. We had fish and chips and pizza from the delivery vans that came to the site -both great but can be a long wait. Great walks from the site, and the surrounding area is beautiful. My only complaint is that there were spaces in front of our caravan allocated for a tent. They weren’t used, but had the been it would’ve been very cramped for all of us. I am sure it was within the legal space limits, but that wouldn’t have been great Obviously not the wardens fault, and I guess a directive from head office. There were many rude tourists in the area, who felt it okay to park across the locals drives and block narrow lanes on the access to local beach. I witnessed one resident trying to ask a man to move, but he refused. I don’t think for one minute these were people from the site., but please be mindful of the locals.

What's with the hideous flashing lights??????

Stayed for two weeks 7th to 22nd Aug. Positives; quiet location (exc car alarms & obnoxious groips) easy access to St Mawes & Truro (we avoided congested places) great fish & chip van (didn't try the pizzas) shop sells lovely ice cream nice walks to the beach and other coastal routes hardworking wardens clean & tidy refuse/disposal areas Negatives; upon arrival it was a race to find a pitch which was stressful and annoying, as navigating a long unit on bendy roads with random flower pots and trying to avoid sunbathers was insane. Irresponsible dog owners, if you can't keep your dog(s) on a lead and consider others, then keep away. I saw a dog drop a bomb on someone else's pitch, and it had a good lick around my olives that were on a table uuuggghhh Loud obnoxious groups (not all groups, but anyone loud was amongst multiple families). To these individuals that this applies to, we other insignificant campers are not enthralled or regaled with your conversations all competing to o be heard. Non parenting of kids, wizzing around bends at insane speeds, making a mockery of the motor vehicles 5mph rule. Car alarms!!!!! I'm sorry, but for repeat offenders, sod off and give us some peace LIGHTS!!!! fairy light are fairly innocuous, these are forgivable. Those tall thin pole thingies, with flashing, chasing lights are simply HIDEOUS. Why on earth would anyone think these offer any joy to campers that opt to stay in the countryside, sleeping under the stars, just enjoying the simple life? Does it not tell you anything, that on average ONLY 1-5 units out of 177 opt to display these ghastly objects. Of course each to their own, but if this is what floats your boat, go to Butlins, Blackpool OR a simpler solution would be for CMC to BAN them. Honestly, if one of these had been flashing all night through my windows, I would have cut their cable and gone to prison for it. All this said, I would go again, as I strongly suspect, the negatives mentioned are rife on other sites up and down the country UNFORTUNATELY

What sort of member are you?

Visited this site from 22nd to 25th August. I have been a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club for nearly 20 years ,16 years as a caravanner and then after a break of 4 years, 4 years as a Motorhome owner. How I felt for those poor Wardens in amongst the midst of this pandemic? The site has 177 pitches and as has been commented on by previous reviewers the toilet/shower block facilities had been reduced by half. Okay one can understand the need for the Club to comply with current regulations but why didn’t the club just reduce the number of pitches accordingly? I witnessed, individuals queuing for the facilities. I also witnessed the lack of social distancing, the people who felt it okay to do dishwashing in the laundry sinks, the individuals who felt it okay to shower in the family rooms, that should have been dedicated for young families and not the older more mature members, and the children playing around the toilet blocks and service point areas, despite numerous signage asking them not to . Now on the latter point maybe some of those children were too young to read and understand the notice but there is what is called parental responsibility. It is not down to the Wardens to Police this. It is ultimately the My next statement will probably make me unpopular amongst my fellow Motorhomers/Caravanners. I walked around the site and observed a large percentage of modern caravans and Motorhomes which would be priced well in excess of £20000 and all with the mod cons, in particular, onboard washrooms, onboard toilets, wash basins and even showers so why would those of you who owned those caravans/motorhomes need to use the onsite facilities? You can understand why people in older units and campervans would use the on site facilities but why would the owners of these modern units need to use the onsite facilities especially as they had been requested to use their own facilities if they had them? To the Club Management.- Why didn’t you reduce the number of pitches on the sites to allow for the reduction in facilities? Alternatively, why didn’t you just close the toilet block facilities leaving the service points and chemical waste points open and ensure that everyone staying on site knew that that was the case and had to use their own facilities. At least by doing that you would have supported your Wardens against the constant abuse that they appear to be taking. Why during the pandemic didn’t you restrict the use of sites to members only? I wish I could have rated this site higher, if nothing else in support of the Wardens, who worked tirelessly against the odds. The Club needs to start valuing their Wardens and their Members. All the Club seems interested in nowadays is money. I hope the Executive Management get to read my review because they need to change, and change quickly otherwise they stand to lose members not gain them. We used to be a members club. Sadly it doesn't seem that way anymore

Feel ripped off and treated badly by unhelpfull staff

After booking for 2 nights we went out on our first day out only for the site to phone me up and inform me that we had lost our pitch as they had sold it to some new arrival and basically that was tough and could only offer us a disabled space next to the toilets they never apologised and refused to admit it was there bad management of the site we had a refund and will not go to the site again its run by inadequate staff who showed no apologies for ruining our stay the campsite was full and we had nowhere to go we are totally disgusted with there attitude and very saddened at the tough shit attitude
