Our Stay at Merrose Farm

This site is delightful. The spaces between the hard standing pitches are vast so there's no feeling of being on top of one another. Not so sure about the grass ones, although on the top field which is grass, there's loads of room between pitches. There are the usual Caravan Club standards in terms of loos, showers and washing up areas. I loved that they pipe in Pirate FM into the toilet blocks. Distracts you from certain other less welcome noises!! The Reception cum Shop is excellent. They stock a wide range of food and non food including fresh bread and eggs. The staff here and around the site are wonderful. They are very friendly and helpful. They work very hard to ensure everyone has a great time. Many spent a lot of time on hands and knees weeding individual pitches as they had apparently had an infestation from new gravel that has been laid on hardstandings. They work tirelessly to maintain standards.  On a personal note I ran out of gas on my last night at the site, and I only found out at 18.20. I went to the shop which was closed and they put themselves out to help me and provide a fresh cylinder. I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the site. Locally there are excellent coastal path walks, superb beaches, and the jewel that is Portscatho with a great pub and a lovely restaurant. Nearby St Mawes is beautiful and we walked around it twice. Been round the castle before but if you haven't, then do. Just be careful if you want to visit Veryan and Portloe. They are lovely but the road in and out are dreadful...single tracks with high hedge walls. All in all a massive thumbs up for Merrose Farm.
