We’re Not Going Back

Overall this is a decent site & well maintained. My problem with it is the over officious nature of those who run it. 1. Strictly no arrival before 1pm, no waiting on site, not on the slip road. Go find somewhere else after a 7 hour journey! Utter nonsense. Inflexible and to suit the staff not the customers. 2. We witnessed someone turn (after 1pm). Parked in waiting lane. Mr & Mrs get out to stretch legs and are told by one of the staff that one of them has to stay with the Vehicle? Why? What happens if you’re travelling alone? Are tha staff going to come to the vehicle to book them in, no I didn’t think so. More, utter nonsense. 3. Shop in the office. Roped off, no access, presumable to stop staff getting COVID, even though there are no measures in place, no restrictions, no isolation rules. Utter nonsense. A bit more flexibility needed, IMO for the benefit of the customers. Nevertheless, I won’t be going back.

Brilliant! All the more space for those of us who love the place!

Turn up before 1pm - why, when the communication you receive beforehand tells you not to?

As for stopping in the slip road? Are you mad? It's a single track road, controlled by traffic lights, with no passing places! There's even a sign at the entrance to say "no arrivals before 1pm".

Your problem, not the wardens - sort it out for yourself!

I'm sick and tired of people moaning about over-officious wardens when it is the customer who is totally at fault!

Instead of moaning, try and see it from the wardens (and Club's) point of view, relax, enjoy your holiday, and plan well ahead. If you know you're going to be earlier than 1pm, pull over somewhere and wait for a while. It isn't essential that you arrive at, or before, 1pm - no-one is going to die as a result!

Some people just need to take a chill pill.

Having just spent the best part of 3 weeks at Merrose Farm, we couldn't recommend it, or the wardens, highly enough. Absolutely loved it.

We WILL definitely be back!

Well said Dave👍 Couldn’t agree more! We’ve recently stayed there and was very impressed at how lovely and welcoming the staff are and they keep the site looking lovely 👏👏 I certainly have an issue with those who arrive before the stated time and think that as they are now there, they’ll front it out and get admittance early, when the rest of us are ticking down the clock not to arrive early 🤔 It’s always someone else’s fault! 🤷‍♀️

Agree with the two replies. We stayed here in May and had a lovely holiday no issues with staff all excellent and helpful. The poster must have got out of bed on the wrong side and too many folk do not have patience these days.

Some site here in France you cannot arrive until 2 or even 3pm no issues with that all and most sites close the office closes 12 to 2 lunchtime.

You're so wise.

You misinterpreted my review to suit your own grandstanding. The slip road is at the top of the hill in front of the lights, not as you assumed I meant between the lights 🙄

A bit of give and take is all that is needed, we're talking less than half hour for god sake.

And as you don't know you're going to be early until you're getting near, then the difficulty of  trying to find a lay by is compounded by the fact that they're usually full of "wise" people like you.😏

It isn't a question of being wise - it's about understanding the consequences to others of choices you decide to make.

You CHOSE to start your journey when you did (you didn't need to). You CHOSE not to adjust your journey so as not to arrive before 1pm (you could/should have done). You CHOSE to completely ignore the sign at the entrance to the narrow lane which states (if memory serves me correctly) "Strictly NO arrivals before 1pm", and continue down the lane to the site (you shouldn't have done).

After all that, you have the audacity to label the wardens as "over-officious" when they apply a club rule that you CHOSE to ignore! You can't make this kind of stuff up.

"We're talking less than half an hour" you say. Next it will be 35 minutes, then 40. Where do you draw the line?

You don't turn up at a shop even 5 minutes before opening time and expect to be let in, do you? The same principle applies here.

As for the 'slip road' - it is nothing of the sort. It is a wide entrance to a narrow lane. It also acts as a bus stop. If you were to wait there, no-one else who is already on site and maybe gone out for the morning would be able to get back in as you would be blocking the whole entrance. Also, if half a dozen people took the same view as you and turned up at 12.40, you'd all be waiting at the entrance to the site and backed up along the main road, causing absolute mayhem!

For once, please consider other people's needs and realise that the world doesn't dance to the beat of your drum!

As I said in my original response, it is YOUR problem to own and resolve, not the wardens.

For anyone else reading this, it is a fabulous site, with fabulous wardens. If you don't want to abide by the club rules, there will be no CAMC site that is for you!

A couple of corrections for you as you seem to make a lot of INCORRECT assumptions on behalf of OTHERS. Please consider this in future and understand the CONSEQUENCES of CHOICES that YOU DECIDE to INCORECTLY ASSUME about;

1. At the start of my review, I said it was a decent site and well maintained.

2. I didn't arrive early, I arrived after 1pm. I was merely commenting on what I witnessed happening to others, within minutes of the over officious  curfew. Especially considering the location of the site and the difficulties of maneuvering out.

a) I didn't ignore the sign

b) I didn't drive down the slip road

c) I didn't get refused entry

d) I arrived after 1pm

3. I have an opinion, just like you and I'll express it. Just because I disagree with you doesn't make me wrong and you right however difficult that is for you to deal with. What I do know is that there are plenty of people who agree with me although they won't say it, and plenty of people who I spoke to whilst there had a similar opinion.

4. Audacity: look up the meaning.

So there we have, you and I agree to disagree. No harm done.
