Disappointing Attitude

My wife, dogs and myself have been visiting Moreton campsite for seven years, often multiple times a year. As a Motorhome owner the ability to walk into town is very important to us, Moreton has become one of our favourite sites. I would imagine like most visitors we need to travel over a hundred miles to visit the site, as we are all aware this year more than most the traffic is very unpredictable making planning an arrival time difficult. Not wanting to spend all day stuck in traffic we got up early and arrived mid-morning, we went to the local garden centre and had a wonderful breakfast and bought some great meat from the in-house butcher. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The car park was getting busy at the garden centre, so not wishing to overstay our welcome we set off to the site at 12.40 Hrs. When we arrived there was a large sign placed in the entrance saying no arrivals until 13.00 Hrs fair enough I thought we are 15 minutes early and were not the first to arrive. How wrong was I ! The Warden greeting explained I was 15 minutes early, when my wife explained I had a long drive and had not wanted to over stay my welcome at the garden Centre, He abruptly interrupted me and said we should have stayed there. As it turned out we were not alone with the disgraceful time keeping as the whole entrance filled up with guests also wishing to check in at 12.50. At 13.00 we were allowed to check in. Firstly I would like to say I understand there must be rules but surely there must be some common sense? And surely after a long drive when people are tired and possibly stressed from the holiday traffic there could be some latitude? If that is not possible surely the wardens should show some empathy. I have been a member for many years and have never encountered this issue before and I sure like most of us, yes I occasionally turn up early. When we visit the sites we are on holiday that seems to get forgotten occasionally. On the positive side Moreton was as good as ever the site is very clean and the new pitches are much better. I hope the improvements continue.

1300 is now  the earliest arrival time at cc sites and you are not the first who was not allowed on at any site on the network and to make it understandable by all  it wiul be on your booking acceptance and I understand that texts are being sent to all arrivals? a couple of days prior to the arrival date to reinforce the message

the site where we are staying several have been sent away to come back at 130O or later

I’m sure that considering you seem to have spent so much money in the garden centre, they would have allowed another 15 mins? You’ve done well to manage to fit so much into your morning and still timed it to arrive at the beginning of the queue? 🤷‍♀️

Anyone who has been a club member must know by now that ALL club sites are 1pm arrival.

Stop moaning when you get turned away.
I have to say that if I were a warden I too would turn anyone away that arrived early.
This arrival time allows the wardens time to clean / tide / cut grass / and prepare for the next set of guests arriving.
I'm sure that if you arrived early then were allowed onto the site and pitched up would then probably moan and leave a bad review because the grass wasn't cut or the toilet block hadn't been cleaned.

Give the wardens a break and just either travel later or if early find somewhere to park up and have a cuppa.

I have NEVER arrived early at a site and never will :-)

I have also experienced the wardens attitude to the rules .

As a person in my 70s I was very surprised at being treated like a naughty school boy for being a few minutes late departing the site .

I have never experienced it on other sites , sometimes I have left early and occasionally a few minutes after 12 . I am not as fast and efficient at hitching up etc as a 25 yr old .

it does seem that he rules are being enforced in a very strict manner especially at this site .

Then again in mitigation the whole country seems to be under stress and Moreton in the Marsh is a busy site open all year .

However I go caravanning to relax and I now find it is getting to stressful and after the recent stay I got home very stressed and not relaxed .

The consequences are that I shall reduce my holidays caravanning and look for more relaxing types of holidays .

I resent being treated in such an authoritarian manner when I am on holiday

I understand the rules although different sites are not so draconian in there implementation.
The attitude of the wardens towards my wife was what really offended me completely unexpected and unnecessary.

such a shame I am now very reluctant to return to this site.

There's a common theme running through these recent reviews and it is the rude warden
People will vote with their caravan wheels and go elsewhere,it's not what you want when taking a break.
