Bigwig Toy Poodle Reports

This Club Site has two dog walks and I could come off the lead. Her in the driver's seat said the clue is in the number of pitches which makes it very large and probably better for families or those who like to have facilities to hand. Good location for the New Forest and the beach. We had good walks at Highcliffe Beach which has a car park with no height barriers.

A bit crowded

Very pleasant welcome on arrival, very helpful & friendly staff, Toilets & showers immaculate, Pitches a bit crowded and feel small not a lot of spare space around the pitch. could do with the children's play filed (ball field) being given some TLC. Good location for New Forest, Bournemouth & the coast only 15 minutes away.

Another excellent site

Being new to Motorhoming - having spent the last 30-odd years with a motorboat and moorings on the Norfolk Broads, we decided to join the Club as a valuable source of information and assistance. As now we have reached an age where taking tortuous leaps onto grass banks whilst heaving around 7 tons of fibreglass - even on slippery water was becoming a chore, plus seeing more of the Country whilst sitting comfortably definitely seemed very attractive. We have not been disappointed - and joining the Club and using Club sites is the best thing we could have done. Directly after picking up the motorhome, we spent two nights at the Norfolk Broads site just 30mins from the dealers (we live on the East Coast) and then a night at the Commons Road Site en-route to four nights at the New Forest Centenary Site. This was followed by a night "on the way back" at Ashridge Farm Site. It has to be said that all the sites were of an equally high standard with tidyness and cleanliness being superb. We have definitely made the correct decision and are looking forward to many more years of experiencing the friendly welcome, attractive sites and glorious countryside.

Excellent family and dog friendly site

Stayed here recently during the August 2022 heatwave and had a great time. We found a nice grass electric pitch opposite the shower and toilet blocks which was also handily near the fresh tap water and waste water so we didn't have far to use the facilities. There was plenty of space between each pitch so you weren't all on top of each other. I brought my son and his friend with me and they had a great time scooting round the site which was very level and tarmacked so perfect for bikes, scooters, pushchairs and roller skates. There is a kids play area with climbing frame and slides and swings and next to that there is a large football pitch with goalposts and also at the end a badminton/volleyball net. There are 2 dog exercise areas on site, both of which are perfect for dogs off lead so you can exercise your pet and not worry it will run off! Dogs on site must be on a lead but these areas are perfect to let them run off some steam. The one at the entrance to the site is very leafy and shady so perfect for hiding away from the recent hot sun. The toilets and showers are cleaned daily and are immaculate. Staff at reception and the shop are both friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant on site however there are food vans which arrive on certain evenings including wood-fired pizza, fish and chips and chilli. The site is conveniently located 15 mins from Avon Beach and theres also a large Sainsburys as well as several restaurants (Harvester, Toby Carvery, Beefeater and a Vintage Inn) just a short drive away in Christchurch as well as KFC, McDonalds and a Lidl/Aldi.

Fantastic stay

Stayed here last weekend with 3 girlfriends. Don't agree with a few reviews on here about the staff. They couldn't have been friendlier from the moment we arrived till we left. The pitch we chose was large and had lots of space all around and the campsite was quiet both during the day and in the evening even being height of school holidays. Delicioius fish and chips from the van on Saturday night. Facilities at the shower and toilet block were always immaculate. Great location for visiting Mudeford and Christchurch. Loved it so much I have booked to come back with my hubbie in a few weeks time fingers crossed the weather's as good!

Returning customer, still great second time.

We love it here, there is a large play area and field, two dog walking areas and plenty of showers and toilets. The pitches are big and the staff are friendly. The site is well placed for trips to the New Forest, Bournemouth, Christchurch, etc. unfortunately the seaside towns seem to be going into disrepair, Bournemouth was nothing like when we first visited and most of the towns shops were closed down and teenagers roaming round bored and causing trouble in the towns so I'm not sure if we'd stay here again, but obviously that's nothing to do with the site.

high crime in area

Had my car broken into on first night there - electric mobility scooter, and a lot of other thing taken, they cut the wire fence. Reported to site, then got told they had cut through the fence a few times that week gangs are active in the area - just call the police and report it. Site more interested in keeping it quiet than the safety and security of the customers. We should that been informed that some parts of the site is not safe. Will not go back

Really lovely site

We discovered this site in March this year, it was lovely and quiet out of season and was a quick 10 min drive to get to the coast. We really enjoyed our stay, the staff are lovely and friendly, the on-site facilities are great and on certain days there is a pizza van and/or fish and chips. We returned for another stay early August, this time with our new puppy and enjoyed it just as much, we found the good-sized dog exercise area which our puppy loved running around off-lead. The site was obviously busier as it was school holidays but it was still a pretty quiet site given the circumstances and the toilet/shower block was always kept spotless. Would definitely recommend this site, good pitches, lovely staff, close to the forest and the coast. We will definitely stay again :-)

Very busy site !

Met with a polite although business like welcome at what is a very busy site, well stocked shop and great fish & Chip van. Facilities are a credit to whoever cleans them as very clean in what must be challenging circumstances - they are obviously used by people from a site over the road with little or no facilities. It is a large site with plenty of bins and service points but our pitch did feel cramped and nothing like as relaxing as Black knowle, nice if you like it busy but would not stay again.

Wouldn’t return

This site is in a lovely location. The showers and facilities are lovely and clean. In my opinion the pitches are too cramped and close together, especially for the price paid. I am scoring this site so low purely down to the management staff at this site, I have never stayed anywhere where the staff have been so unpleasant. Wow betide anyone that inadvertently falls foul of the rule book! They don’t clarify or explain themselves, they just keep referring to the rule book. Spiteful and vengeful! Most unpleasant trip ever and that is saying something for a 56 year old grandma. If you want a chilled relaxed trip, go up the road a bit further.
