Perfect Lochside location with stunning views

Pitch right on waters edge with stunning views over loch which kept us mesmerised! Good walks around coastal paths. Well cared for and clean site with lovely wardens. Short drive into Oban - best camper car parking at Lonsdale car park, 2hrs free parking. Due to Covid restrictions facilities block was closed.

Fantastic View

What we loved most about this site was the fantastic view from every pitch, and access to the shore line. Can’t comment on the facilities as they were shut due to Covid restrictions. Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn’t have much contact with them. Cycle path running through the site so easy walking in both directions. A good base for exploring the Oban area, plenty to see, boat trips to nearby islands. We will definitely return.

Worn out site

This site needs some investment, chemical point & rubbish bins 300 yards away from centre of site, old cars, boats, diggers strewn around entrance ( very untidy ) No mention when booking - site has low electricity output so van kept blowing mains and warden was required to reset every time. Too many pitches crammed together so not much privacy. On the positive side the Wardens and staff were helpful. Would not visit again!

Fantastic location!

The campsite is in an excellent location just a short drive from Oban. The pitches are a good size and as far as I could make out, all have a sea view. Everything is well organised and the staff are very helpful. There is a small shop onsite where you can buy essentials and exchange gas bottles. We do not cycle but for those that do there is a cycle path very close by that goes all the way to Fort William and the site is ideal for water sports and has it's own slipway. For anyone planning a trip on the Jacobite steam train, don't believe what you read on their website, we managed to get tickets on the day and had a fantastic time. We were very pleased and will return.

Fantastic views and ideal location for exploring the islands

We've just got back from our first visit to this site. It is easy to get to and is ideally based for visiting Oban, the islands and up towards Fort William and the Highlands. The staff were really helpful on arrival and show you to your pitch and explain where all the facilities are. There is a small shop on site. Due to the current COVID situation the wash facilities were closed, but this was explained at the time of booking so was not a concern. There are lots of water points throughout the site. The site is open with fantastic views across the water to the Isle of Mull, the coastline and Lismore island. It was lovely watching the boats and ferries heading out of Oban, and fantastic sunsets. We asked for a lochside pitch and this was provided. The site is on a slight slope so even if you are pitched at the back you should have good views. Even thought the site is large, we found it to be quiet with not alot of traffic movement. The airport adjacent to the site is extremely quiet - you wouldn't really know it was there. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here - it is a great location being close to Oban for shopping facilities and the ferries to Mull and Kerrara. Lots of walking routes around the area and lovely scenery.

Great Location

Great site! We received a very warm welcome at reception after a long days' drive and were escorted to our pitch by the warden. Facilities very modern and extremely clean. It is a big site but the standards are very high, lots of water and rubbish disposal points. Fantastic location, minutes to the beach with its vast expanse to walk along. Great disused railway line to walk along too. We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. We will return as soon as we can.

Fantastic scenery and excellent location

Booked to stay for 5 nights at the end of July but ended up staying for 8 and didn’t want to leave. The site is large and open but is spread out over different encampments with plenty of room between units. It was more sheltered than we expected given its location. The majority of pitches are level with most hard standing. It is handy being able to drive straight onto the pitch and having the guidance of the warden. If you are pitched at the far end near the small airport, it’s quite a walk to the toilet block, pot wash etc. There is also a children’s play area. Overall we found it reasonable priced compared to some sites although it is an affiliate site. We hope to return someday. It definitely lived up to the recommendation we’d had. The site is right on the coast with easy access to the stony beach. Water was much calmer than we expected and left us regretting the decision to leave our paddle board at home. Site is excellent for families or couples who like water sports. The surrounding scenery is something we will long remember and it was lovely to sit out and just chill. Staff were friendly and helpful and we found the site very clean. We asked to change our pitch and this request was accommodated. If you want a pitch on the front, then make this known upon booking. There may be some available for a few nights, pitches further back have a more elevated view. There is a cycle track nearby and it’s an easy walk to Connell bridge. Oban is about 5 miles away and has a Tesco and an Aldi. There are plenty of places to eat in Oban and we patronised the fish vendor nearest the ferry terminal, If you intend taking a ferry our advice is to book in advance during July and August

Not club standards

1.Too big and open 2.You pay £10 deposit and lose £1 booking fee?? 3.Cannot choose your pitch ..we was given a pitch that was very open, windy and exposed. 4. Shower blocks doors were constantly wedged open and not very private as men were constantly walking past. Showers were only just warm, never getting any hotter. 5. Cars were a constant on the site as numerous people drove to the showers blocks passing you by and also people walking across your pitch as short cut. 6.One worker loving his grass strimmer instead of lawn mover! 7. Not club standards as main clubsite and should be in affiliated site at the least.

The perfect large site

Having stopped at North Ledaig many times previously, we already knew that the location was lovely, the staff brilliant and the facilities top rate - we were not disappointed! It is a very large site, fronting on to a west facing beach with views out to the islands. Perfect for a stay to explore Oban or take a ferry to visit the wonderful islands - Mull or even the Outer Hebrides!
