Outstanding

We stayed here for 4 weeks as we fell in love with it and decided to cancel our next site in order to stay longer. The view of the Loch from the site is outstanding. The facilities are modern and clean and the reception team and all staff were very friendly and helpful. The surrounding areas are superb with plenty to do and Oban is a charming quaint town. We will definitely return despite it being over 500 miles away.

gorgeous location

we have just returned after a 2 week stay here, and I have to say we had a great time. The site is excellent and we had a really nice pitch, the check in was really easy and we were escorted to our pitch about 100 metres to the toilet block which was a great advantage and we had great views over the water to Mull.

Things for improvement Its quite a large site and if we were pitched a long way from the toilet block then it would be quite a journey too and fro to the van. There needs to be another toilet block at the other end really. We didnt like the washing up area push taps, the timer is too short and the owners need to rethink this There needs to be a bike rack at the toilet block

Now the good bits The wardens are really friendly and work tirelessly as the site is really busy, we would have preferred to select our own pitch rather than be allocated one on arrival, luckily we had a nice pitch.

There are some great walks from the site, one to benderloch with a stopover in ben lara cafe for some of jimmys scones, theres also a great fish and chop shop in Tralee from wed to sat 1630/2100, paul the owner makes superb fish and chips so highly recommended.

Going the other way you can walk to the hotel along the cycle track after passing the airport, great views over the river. we also took a walk up ben lara which has spectacular views from the top, all helped by the orkney icecream we bought at the start from the famous pink shop.

We used the bus to get into Oban which stops right outside the site, Oban was a really nice town with plenty of shops and sights to keep you occupied. You must make time for a trip over to Mull, we decided to take the campervan and stay over night wild camping in calgary bay, Mull was great and some nice scenery along the way around.

We will definately return and this time bring our cycles.

Book this site ... you will not be dissappointed

Long walk to showers

My husband and I stayed one night as part of our round Scotland tour. hoped for more but hadn't booked and they were full. I agree with the last review we were situated right on the front by the beach which was great but it was a very long walk to the showers (my husband has bad arthritis). The lovely sandy beach is wonderful we watch Otters catching food and eating it on the beach. Helpful staff and ideal base for exploring area. Good sized shower cubicles

Good and bad

While I cannot fault the views from this site I would advise anyone booking it to be aware of a couple of issues.Depending where you are put the walk to the amenities can be quite a hike.To empty your toilet cassette you need to go by car as the two toilet blocks are at the top of the site.Several people I spoke to found it a nuisance to keep using the car.The chap who showed us to our pitch appologised for the distance. The other thing is a health and safety issue that there are no lights on the site only at the toilet blocks. The service points have no lights and the electric bollards have none also, so if you stay here you need a good torch. We enjoyed our stay but would have liked to have known about the distance to walk since I have a knee injury. The staff were very helpful and can't be faulted.Only two moans so all in all a good site if you are aware of any difficulties in advance.

Amazing

This is the third time we have visited this site ,and again it did not disappoint. The view is one of the best, the wardens do a good in keeping the site clean and tidy even when up against the small minority who see fit not to leave a toilet clean after use. That aside we have just returned from a lovely stay, and will be back again. The on site shop is well stocked and all the staff are very friendly.

One of the best

Having stayed on this site many times the beauty and tranquillity never ceases to amaze. It all begins at check in with a friendly and warm greeting and all the warmth anyone could ask. well stocked shop, good toilet and shower facilities , spotlessly clean. We have visited this site at both ends of the year and enjoyed a lovely visit to Mull. You can buy an open ticket as foot passengers for a month cost us £13.98 between us return from Oban so you can choose the best day to travel after watching the weather forecast, rather than buy your ticket and feel you have to go regardless. We just love this site, what not to love, but there will always be someone with another opinion. The beauty of Scotland where we have lived and loved for !2 years is amazing and the sunsets from this site are superb. Thankyou all at North Ledaig

One of the best sites I have stayed on!!

Lovely friendly staff, fantastic site with the usual high standard toilet/shower block. Well stocked shop but above all the location of this site with its stunning views makes it one of the best sites I have stayed on.

Scotland at it's best

Just back from 6 nights at this beautiful site. As requested we were given a front row pitch to which the warden escorted us on arrival. Looking over to Lismore and turn around and looking at the hills. Good location for site seeing and visiting the islands. The staff were all very helpful and friendly with a wave or greeting when you met them. Hope to be back - this must be one of the most scenic of sites.

Pack your caravan and get yourself to North Ledaig

Just returned from a weeks break to North Ledaig, we were lucky enough to get the front row pitch and it was phenomenal. The views are breath taking, with the beautiful sea in front and the stunning mountains behind. The pitch size is great, loads of room, toilets and showers great and staff are lovely. There is not much to do, but spend time with your family, enjoy the surroundings, visit Oban, go on boat trips to the various islands (we went to Isle of Kererra and it was stunning) the list is endless, go to the sealife centre, chocolate company, eat fresh fish etc. There is no club site which to be honest I think is a good thing as it would detract from the setting you are in. We went with two kids (4 and 7) and they had the best time, playng on the beach and just being out in the sunshine. Well its safe to say a week wasn't enough and we will be booking two weeks next time. Love it!!!

Nothing special

Stayed for a single night whilst heading north on a day of torrential rain. Entering the office on arrival we were  'greeted' by five staff members who looked like they couldn't be bothered to sign us in. We were eventually booked in and shown to a pitch by a friendly warden towards the back of the site which was level although some distance from the sea. Only half the washing facilities were open so despite the site being less than full there were queues for the showers on the morning.  The a828 runs behind the site so suggest asking for a pitch well away from the road.  A general question: why do all sites have high season rates through the English school holiday dates? This is Scotland where the holiday dates are different.  £26.60 for a one night stopover at the beginning of April for two adults in a small camper does not represent good value.
