Quiet and restful stay

Fantastic stay for 3 nights in August. Pitches are sensibly spaced out with plenty of room. All pitches looked to have a fantastic view out the sea. Pitch 4 is up at the top in the corner and suited us perfectly as out of the way and quiet for our 2 dogs. Great space to sit outside the van and have a leisurely afternoon with a bottle of vino and a paella on the bbq. Windbreak fine in the day time if your on site but cannot be left and must be taken down at night, the site is very open and directly on the coast so I can imagine it can get windy quickly. Pub near entrance to site very friendly and good food, dog friendly. Coop 5mins walk away. Walk down to Whitley takes about 30 mins, past the light house and along the seafront, the ice-cream parlour there is worth the walk! Looked like the pubs in the other direction, towards Blythe are nice for a walk and a pint but we didn’t venture in. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. Access to coastal walks suitable for dogs directly from site. No children ourselves but for info: no play area on site, there is a swimming pool with waves and slides etc in Whitley which is waking distance. Good bike riding as access to coastal route from site.

Wardens

Great site on rugged coast line. Rude wardens again , may be they relief, won’t dare ask. They certainly need to do a customer care course.

Back again

This was our second visit to this site from 22/07/22 to 24/07/22. This is a small site which we prefer. The site is on a gradient so take some ramps just in case you are not allocated a level pitch. The available facilities are spotlessly clean and the grounds are kept very tidy. The reception doubles up as a small shop for all of the little things that you just might have forgot. There is also a little shed we’re you can borrow (and donate) books and DVD if you get stuck for something to do. Location - there is a great pub within two minutes walk of the site that provides great food. Walk for ten minutes towards Blyth and you will find one of the best fish and chips shops in the north east. They also have a restaurant if you fancy sitting for something to eat. Warning if you are thinking of ordering a large fish you better be hungry as they are huge. Walking in the opposite direction towards Whitley Bay you can walk to St Mary’s lighthouse and walk on some of the most fantastic coastline you could imagine, just check the tide times first. If you fancy going to Whitley Bay town centre there is a bus stop five minutes walk (towards Blyth) from the site entrance - definitely worth a visit. Back to the site, the wardens are great and cannot do enough to help if needed. This site is a great little gem and we will be back soon.

Just Fantastic

We love this site and were thrilled that we could get ion at short notice. Everything is immaculate. The wardens are a delight and checking in process the easiest we’ve ever found. Many thanks and hopefully we’ll be back soon. Steve & Tracy Rostron

We must visit again

We stopped here after failing to get there when lockdown happened and then last year through illness. So third time lucky. What a joy. No , you can’t have an awning or sunshade up and no you can’t get in till dead on 1pm, because of problems with the residents, but this is made very clear before booking. Anyway nearly all the Club sites are around 1pm. What’s the hardship… The views make up for everything. We rode our bikes to Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. We went in the bus to Newcastle and ate at the wonderful Kings Arms, in Seaton Sluice. The wardens were relief wardens and were great. We will return. Only small criticism perhaps some money could be spent on this site now. The toilets and showers could do with an update and the pitches could be levelled a bit.

Our favorite site

I rang to book a pitch at Old Hartley as this is our favorite site. There was no availability for the night we wanted so we felt very disappointed. But low and behold the excellent staff rang me the next day to say that there had ben a cancellation and would we like the pitch. How marvellous the staff are as they did not have to do this. had a lovely overnight stay on our way up to Scotland. Fabulous views and Whitley Bay is great. Lovely walk along the top with the dogs. Can't wait to be back again.

Wardens and pitches

We arrived on Sunday 19th June to the 26th June and was met by a very unfriendly warden, he didn't point out where the motorhome points were to fill up, the pitches were the smallest ones we have ever stayed on, the only thing good about the site was the view, would never return.

Fantastic Site!!

We have just returned from having a week's stay at this small and wonderfully situated caravan site. We had wonderful summer weather. From the site we walked the coastal path along to Tynemouth and back. On another day we walked the other direction to Blyth. Just outside the pub there is a pub with a beer garden. Food is delicious and only a short walk back to the caravan. We watched three dolphins leaping in the sea near St Mary's lighthouse while eating our breakfast. Really glad we had our binoculars. Another interesting walk was across to the lighthouse where we were able to see some seals quite close up. Now let me address the problems some earlier reviewers seem to be annoyed with: 1) There are no awning as the site can be quite windy due to its position. In the passed, awnings have blown over and damaged caravans. 2) No windbreaks are allowed for the same reason as above. 3) The arrival time is 1.00 pm not 12.45 or 12.50. The Wardens have had complaints from neighbours where caravans are lined up outside of their windows. The Wardens ask anyone to go away and come back when the gate is open at 1.00 pm. Perhaps if you read this you will understand why they have rules in place. So instead of complaining that the Wardens are "jobs worth" "difficult" or any other descriptive names just think these rules are in place to suit everyone on site and you should be happy to follow these rules and not make the Wardens jobs any more difficult. I am grateful they do this job!!

Wardens

Fantastic site, what a view, and as with most club sites facilities nice and clean. Our only gripe was the wardens. 1. We put up a wind break, and were told that it could not stay up overnight, despite the fact that whilst we were there a neighbours was out for days? 2. Electricians turned up to fix a bollard (not ours), our power was turned off (on 3 separate occasions!) with absolutely no warning. Also whilst grass cutting, again electricity was just unplugged. I would imagine in certain circumstances this could cause issues with vans electric circuits. Surely just a knock on the door out of courtesy would help.
