Great location

The site was really peaceful, when I eventually managed to find it. Directions on the website to find location were very good. Wardens were friendly and welcoming, even came out to the end of the road to make sure I took the right turning. Wonderful views and lovely sunset, what more could you ask for?

Lovely site; great views

We would endorse all the positive points mentioned on here; a really peaceful site with views over Plymouth Sound. The wardens couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, and keep the site in very good order. On the edge of the small village, there is a pub doing food, a small shop, and even a bike shop next door to it!  Good walks from the site in all directions, across fields and down to the coast, all with fabulous cliff views. A good circular takes in Wembury with its delightful church and beach cafe, Heybrook Bay (another good pub), and back over the fields from along the cliffs. There is also loads to do in Plymouth. Would recommend it to anyone who can manage without a site loo etc. National Trust properties are well represented if you are a member, the closest being Saltram only a few miles away. If you are a cyclist this is also pa good place to park to ride the excellent Pym Valley Trail/National Cycle Route 27, which is just down the hill from the main car park. One or two climbs between there and Tavistock and back, but well worth the effort.

Improvements to do

We have stayed several times over the years at this site and it is a wonderful location and we like it very much. However we have just come back from a slightly damp English weekend and have the following comments. The catch on the gate into the dog walk has become extremely difficult to open and needs loosening up. The grass pathways cut into the dog walk were not cut short enough and made for difficult walking. The other problem on this site is that Motor homes are pitched at the top of the site on a flat area but when it rains this section holds water and its easy to get wheel spin and of course damages the grass and upsets the wardens. It's about time a few gravel hard standings were placed here instead to help alleviate the problem. Apart from those few points it is a lovely site and one we shall certainly return to.

En Route to Spain

Lovely site with great views over sea. Wardens very welcoming and helpful. Access route could be quite complex at busy times of the year as road narrow, relying on passing places. As handbook suggests, do not follow Sat Nav!

Worth the narrow windy lanes

Lovely site, great views as everyone has said, always ships going in and out and the most amazing sunsets. Good but steep walk down to Bovisand but a café with good coffee and a rest for weary legs ready for the walk back!!!. For walkers you can pick up the coastal path from here. When towing the last 1/2 mile of lane leading to the site is narrow with passing places, but a bit difficult when you meet a tractor coming the other way!!! Definitely need to keep to the arrival time as meeting someone leaving the site whether it is a motorhome or caravan would be very awkward. Plymouth is very interesting with lots to see and Buckland Abbey is well worth a visit. We have no children so my score is not very accurate but maybe a little quiet for them.   The site was kept very tidy and well tended, and normal facilities as always are supplied but as no toilet block the price is kept lower.  In our small motorhome about 4 days without facilities is okay

Tour of the South West in our Swift Kontiki

After following the instructions in the Site Handbook to the letter we still managed to end up down a narrow country lane about a mile away from the site. However, upon arrival we were met by lovely, friendly wardens who were helpful and could not do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Every pitch has wonderful views over the Plymouth Sound and there are loads of places to visit with an excellent ferry from Mount Batten across to the Barbican for just £1.50 each or to the Royal William Yard for £3.00. Will definitely be back!

Great area to follow our hobby of Geocaching.

A great site which has no toilet or wash facility .As said before it was quite sloppy and when we were there in August it was wet and muddy and no hard standing .We were prepared for this and parked up facing downhill. with mud grips to enable us to leave without getting stuck!Friendly wardens and honey and eggs for sale .

Fantastic site with great views

My wife, little boy and I stayed here in late August 15. Reasons to stay here are; awesome views, location close to Wembury, Mothercombe, Bigbury and Bantham beaches, 10 mins to Plymouth city and its a quiet peaceful site. Wardens were very helpful and accommodated us 2 nights earlier than planned. Clean and well laid out site with flat and sloping pitches which vary from slight to quite steep! Be sure to approach from A38 marsh mills (big sainsburys) exit and take to road towards Wembury, it's then an easy drive in dual carriage and wide roads until the last 3/4 mile of Devon lane which has passing places. Read the web page for details of this. We'll be back again for sure.

Lovely site - friendly wardens

We stayed at Plymouth Sound for 6 nights in mid August 2015.  A lovely site - all grass (beautifully kept) - with many of the pitches having views across to Plymouth Sound.  Beautiful flowers and flowering shrubs around the site were much appreciated. The wardens were amongst the friendliest and most helpful we have come across - and the standard in all Club sites is VERY high..!! Access can be a bit tricky when there's traffic around, but experienced drivers will have little problem. The one disadvantage of the location is that the top of the headland is high enough to be in cloud when the weather is indifferent - for 2 days we could hardly see the edge of the site through the fog. The location is convenient for the Mount Pleasant ferry across to the Barbican - every 30 minutes until 11pm.  Much better than taking the car round into town.  Both local pubs serve food - one is within walking distance. We enjoyed our first visit to the area.
