A good stay

The site is an open partially sloping field occupying high ground next to cottages on the edge of the hamlet of Down Thomas, which has a pub and a general provisions/cycle shop that sells basics. The site is very quiet, enjoys fine views and is exposed to all weather. During our stay the few motorhomes were restricted to the more level pitches at the top of the site very close to the gravel access track. The lower more sloping pitches, which probably had better views, were primarily occupied by seasonal caravans. There are no hard standings, paths or natural boundaries between pitches. TV and mobile reception is good. We didn’t drive off-site for our 6-night stay. It’s a good site for walking including visiting Plymouth via the Mount Batten ferry £5 return (or local bus). Walking routes are easy to follow and don’t just include the scenic coastal path. Our walks included the popular NT Saltram, Wembury and the attractive River Yealm, all with refreshment stops. I had hoped to cycle but didn’t due to the hills and narrow roads. A written directions from the site back to the A38 would have been useful on the last day.
