Poolsbrooke in Winter

We had a 11 night stay here in the first half of January on one of the eight fully serviced pitches. I can't comment on the resident wardens as we only briefly met them, but it's obvious they keep a tidy site, and the relief wardens were excellent. Really good toilet/shower/laundry block, one of the best I've seen. The site is quite exposed in winter when the trees are bare, and the wind ripped across it while we were there. The pitches are generous, and you're never far from a service point if you're not on a serviced pitch. Be careful when exiting the barrier with your unit, previous comments about the right hand kerb are spot on. The site details suggest the TV reception is poor, our pitch had a tv socket on the power bollard, and reception through this was pretty good. Mobile phone reception (EE) was fine, and the site wifi was much better than I've experienced at other sites (but it was pretty empty). Country park looks OK, but didn't get to use it as much as we'd like, as got a dose of manflu. I imagine this site is a cracker in the right weather. Very pleased to see it's now open all year, apart from the exposed to the wind nature of the site, it's a good all year site with good drainage. We'd use it again if we were in the area again, easy access to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Ikea at Nottingham, and the watersports centre at Rother Lake.
