Fantastic site

I love this site! It is so clean and tidy that it’s always welcoming. The friendly knowledgeable staff continue the welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I will definitely be back again. Thank you!

A really good holiday

We've just come home from Rookesbury Park and what a super time we had. It's a large, very family orientated site which is immaculately maintained by amazing wardens. I say amazing because despite the mayhem caused by lots of happy campers, lots of small (and not so small) children on bikes, scooters, powered go karts etc, they kept smiling and kept that site in superb order. Every time we spoke with one of them, there were smiles, jokes and solid good humour. They have a brilliantly stocked shop, there appears to be a good children's playground and play area and, best of all, a big and entirely secure dog field plus a couple of doggy 'pit stops' around the site. Some of the hardstanding pitches seem a bit crowded, but there are a number of grassed field type areas and the pitches on those are huge. The site backs onto the forest and there is an access gate for walks and you can walk to Wickham (lovely village). Two toilet blocks and a lot of service points - really great. Hillhead beach is dog friendly and there's a lovely tea room with a garden, the Cricketers at Curdridge do a great Sunday lunch and are dog friendly and you can reach a number of interesting little villages and towns for a day out. Downside - well it was school hols and we expected noise. Maybe not the wild screaming and howling (children and parents) in the forest at 11pm, but never mind. There seemed to be lots of newbie caravanners and campers (yes, there are tents, brings a different dynamic to the site and some of the staff are not keen) - perhaps just borrowing gran's van or buying up an old one so they can have a staycation. But sadly many of them with a sense that the Club rules simply don't apply to them. So - gates left wide open (the one with the security pads of course), dogs unsecured and running around the site, driving far too fast around the site, a drone flying on the dog walking field (terrifying several of them - dogs that is!) and my big bugbear - loads and loads of unpicked up dog poo in the field (and, for the first time ever, outside our caravan - in the middle of breakfast! Yuk!! I had to ask the owner to pick it up. I was nice about it, despite the murder in my heart, and offered a poo bag). Now we have two big dogs with us and this dog poo stuff really infuriates me as it gives us responsible owners a bad name. As do the dear little doggies, unsecured and doing their own thing, wanting to be 'friendly' and visit our dogs and, indeed, our awning and caravan. The wardens said that they thought the behaviour was simply the crowd that were visiting whilst we were there so don't let it put you off (we weren't complaining, just apologising on behalf of the ignoramuses). We'd love to go again as it's close to us and has a really nice vibe. Maybe not during school holidays though!

Thank you for a lovely stay

Just wanted to thank the team at Rookesbury for a lovely stay. You were all very friendly and very happy to help answer any of our silly questions. Great team. Great site. Great location. We look forward to returning. We will probably avoid the school holidays next time, but that’s only because we can. Great site for families.

Very helpful

Stayed on 14th August, just a flying visit really so we needed to arrive early and leave early. The staff both on the telephone conversations and on site were first class. Seemed a very happy and organised site and we'll certainly use them again if we get down this way as lots to see. Thumbs up from me👍

Super

Stayed here for one night whilst on the way to the Isle of Wight. The Wardens were delightful - really welcoming, warm and friendly. The shop is very well stocked, including local cakes and fresh eggs The site is big, but well spaced and well kept. It is clear that the wardens take pride in their work here. There was a burger van on site the night we stayed which offered a range of freshly cooked burgers, hot dogs, all day breakfasts etc. There was a sign to say that a fish and chip van is on site on Fridays too. All in all, a great site!

Immaculate!

We just spent 5 days at Rookesbury and we were very impressed with the how well kept the site is. Since our last Club site stay we have stayed at private sites of varying quality and it’s easy to forget how good Club sites are. At Rookesby the bins near our pitch were emptied so often that they never became full. I assume the whole site was treated the same way. On the Club site we have just arrived at a fellow guest complained about the £30 average cost of a club site compared to ……….. a CL!😂. Well, it’s like comparing apples with pears! I know what it involved with keeping on top of the grounds maintenance. The machinery, the labour the waste disposal. That’s only a part of the sites’s upkeep. I think the wardens do a fantastic job. I gather they are not well payed which think makes their endeavours even more incredible. Club sites are amazing. The one we are now on (Bridport Bingham Grange) is tired and the showers need modernising. That’s not the fault of the staff as the site is well serviced as always. The site was fairly noisy as it is aimed at families. Lots of children were riding bikes and scooters around the site and the wardens did their best to encourage them to ride the correct way around the one way system. The pitches were nicely spaced out and facilities were all within easy access. The showers and toilets were exceptionally clean and the site staff deserve a huge well done from the club for all their efforts.

Great site for family holiday, lovely wooded location

We chose Rookesbury Park for a family holiday to celebrate a major wedding anniversary. The rest of the family (4 plus 1 non-members) were able to stay on the camping area, which is very spacious. For us we chose a grass pitch with plenty of space in front, enabling the children to play and us all to gather for outdoor meals. Prior to our visit the site staff were very helpful in amending dates to fit in with our family's commitments. There was some confusion when we arrived and lack of full information, as we were told some pitches were unavailable due to recent wet weather, but the pitch we favoured was not crossed out on the map. We only later realised why the pitch marker had been removed. The location next to the forest is a real asset, and we enjoyed our walks there as did our grandsons in the adventure playground. We were able to walk on the Meon Valley trail at three points. The site is in a quiet wooded haven away from the frantic road network between the two cities, but when needed access was easy to the coast and cities - we enjoyed Winchester and Portsmouth, the coast at Hayling Island, and the nature reserves at Titchfield Haven and Langstone Harbour. Wickham is a pleasant, vibrant village, where we enjoyed a family meal at Greens restaurant. Our main shopping was done at Sainsburys at Broadcut just outside Fareham.

Outstanding

Spent a week here in Jul/Aug 21. We cannot fault the site in any area, the facilities were spotless and the entire site well maintained. We loved the pots of fresh herbs available for guests. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely use this site again. Well done Rookesbury Park!

Marvellous site

Stayed here for the second time this year. Impressed with the cheerfulness of the wardens and the efficiency with which they do their jobs. The site is in a lovely setting - essentially a clearing in a forest, but great for Msritime History in the local area and now (fingers crossed) a good stop over for the ferries to France.
