Beautiful Site

We had a wonderful stay at this site. The staff were the best yet polite, happy and extremely helpful. It is a quiet wooded site in small copses and extremely clean and well maintained. No children's play area but that didn't bother our children as there are lovely walks and lots to do in the local area. Will definately be returning. Thank You

Hard to find but worth the effort.

This was booked as a stopover en-route to Devon and Cornwall. The CC sat nav got us close but the signage is not very clear. The site is, as described, on a hillside. The views are very good and the facilities are excellent. Living in South Lincs all these bumps in the landscape make for tiring walking. The views are worth the effort.

A lovely site

We recently stayed at Salisbury for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Wardens were so friendly, informative and helpful. The site is well laid out in secluded 'wooded glades' for 2 or 3 vans with a larger grassed area for about 12 vans at the top of the site behind reception (here traffic noise seems just that bit louder than elsewhere on the site) The showers and toilets were kept immaculately clean at all times and there is a fantastic doggie walk along the edge of the site. As the site is on a slope, if you are pitched at the bottom it's a bit of a trek up to the toilet/shower block at the top of the site, especially in the rain (but good exercise). Only draw-backs: no wifi, only 1 hairdryer in the lady's I (could do with another) and at busy times the 3 showers and wc's means having to queue (the wardens do open up the one unisex toilet at busy times) and the 'open' wash-up area situated at the top of the site which can be very cold, as the wind whips across the open fields nearby. BUT none of these detract from the fact that the Salisbury site is lovely & well worth a visit as there is so much to do round and about. We will most certainly make another visit.

A nice place to stay

We only stayed one night as we travelled from the Isle of Wight enroute to Wales. The site is nicely laid out and we managed to find a reasonably level pitch without difficulty. There is some traffic noise from the nearby roads but the trees keep this to a minimum. The warden was lovely and friendly. We would stay here again.

Remote and fairly peaceful site

Decided to have a weekend somewhere different and wanted to visit Salisbury and this site fitted the bill. Warm welcome when we arrived and went for a walk round to find a suitable pitch. This site is brilliantly laid out on the side of a valley and at most theres maybe 5 units together (except at the very top). We found a hardstand down the bottom of the site and got a magnificent view across the valley. You can hear traffic as it passes by but it's not intense and just distant background noise. Be aware there is only one facilities block and this is by the site office at the top of the hill, so be aware if your maybe mobility challenged. As usual facilities spotless and showers nice and hot (and adjustable). Convieniant for Salisbury and surrounding areas. We used the P&R into Salisbury a fantastic city with the cathedral and the pleasant city itself, also nearby Sarum Castle worthy of a visit.  I hardly ever sleep in, but it was that peaceful I eventually woke to the birds singing 3 hours later than I'd normally awake - it's that relaxing! Will we go again - you bet!

excellent

Just returned from a few days at Hillside - every aspect of our break was superlative. Everything neat and tidy, facilities kept in good nick, wardens as helpful and friendly as ever. Superb location for so many many places - New Forest, Salisbury, Watercress Line, Romsey, Winchester etc etc. We will definitely be back.

Ideal for Salisbury and surrounding areas

Have just spent 4 nights at this site.  The wardens are some of the most friendly and helpful that we have met at any CC site, nothing to much trouble for them. Lovely quiet site mostly grass pitches which are spacious, we stayed in the top area near toilets and had great views over the countryside. The only downside is the location, the road outside is a main route from Salisbury (a hidden gem of a city) and gets very busy so I do not recommend walking as there are not any footpaths!!  The nearest pub with food is approx 3 miles away which is a pity as we enjoy an evening stroll with a beer or two at the end of it. However, the overall location and layout and spotless facilities made up for this slight disappointment. Would I go back? Certainly for a quiet break.

disappointed

We stay most weekends on c.c.sites, this is the first we have felt not welcome. we arrived early due to less traffic than we were told we should expect, there was no place to park and wait. We were allowed reluctantly onsite. The site is quite a way out of Salisbury which I should have checked.Shame as I had spoken to a man on site a few weeks before and he told me first come first served, never mentioned not to arrive early but it would have been helpful. We quite often arrive a little early and have never been treated like this before, and have always been happy to wait. On a brighter side the site has lovely outlook. Not much else going for it.

A nice little site

This was our first visit to this site and found it very clean and tidy. The toilet block was always clean but there is only one toilet block on site. Hence my rating. The pitches are on slopes so you do need levelling blocks etc. but it is very well maintained.

Peaceful and functional

We stayed only for one night which was memorable for gale force winds and we pitched on the top site which was in direct line of it !  The site has a narrow entrance and great care is necessary if you are a "wide boy". The pitches are spread over several levels but for proximity to the facilities, choose the top level adjacent to reception and avoid the uphill walk. The dog walk is a track down a hill and I just have to mention the pleasant surprise of fragrant facilities. (other CC sites take note)  It did the job for us.
