Good for families

Beautiful, peaceful, - one for the grown ups....

We stay here quite often as a quick weekend getaway as its only 5 miles from home. The side is small with tree surrounded "pods" for two, three or 4 units. Some are fairly close to each other. It's extremely tranquil and definitely not really one for the children (a bonus in some eyes as there is no play park.) I would say that some pitches are probably better for more experienced caravaners as access can be a little tricky but if you have them, motor movers are a god send! Lots of water points and bins/recycling all around the site so you're not far from sorting out the household chores. The shower and toilet block is at the top of the site and if you have any mobility issues its probably best to pitch there if you don't want a fairly steep walk up hill. The top "field" area near the facilities block and office gives the best sunshine all day as it is more open. Showers and loos are ALWAYS immaculate. I have just come home from a weekend and Trevor and Claire could not have been more friendly and accommodating after I'd messed up my booking. (I'd booked Sat and Sun night instead of Fri/Sat!) It was sorted out with no fuss and a smile! The access from the main road is easy (it's a fast A road so be careful of other traffic). Nearest shop (i think) is Nisa in Porton Village. They sell "Cook" frozen meals and the fish pie was absolutely delicious. Good choice of meats, bread, milk, booze etc. A little further into Salisbury is an Aldi for the big shop. Also a M&S at the BP garage if you want a bit more of a treat. The "Table Table" restaurant on the right hand side as you go into Salisbury is VERY lacklustre. No atmosphere, microwaved burger and chips type stuff. However, good service and relatively cheap. Great access to Salisbury which is lovely to visit. Don't miss Danebury Ring Iron Age Hillfort for great dog walking (but mind your valuables in the car park there). It's our nearest site so we will always visit! Love it!! 5 STARS x
