Good for families

Nice little site

We were 3 adults; a middle-aged couple and our son came for a few nights whilst we were there. This site is very quiet and peaceful, about half way between Andover and Salisbury. There is nothing around to make any noise apart from helicopters and a few light aircraft from the Museum of Army Flying - which is a fascinating place. It seems very few families with little children go to this site which make it ideal for those who have done that bit and don't want kids running around any more. But it is a shame, we quite like watching them play. We went for a week in the summer hols, which seemed unusual, many people seemed to go for only a night or 2 on their way to the IoW or cross-Channel ferries. We saw only 1 family with children! We wanted to explore the area around Salisbury and this site was ideal for that. Salisbury itself, Old Sarum, Stonehenge, New Forest, Winchester all reachable by car. Eating out: the towns, of course, and village pubs as well. We found the Grosvenor Hotel in Stockbridge was excellent - again, reachable by car. Facilities; exactly what you would expect from a CC site. they have built a new loo block since our last visit about 10-12 years ago with proper-sized showers in. All clean and nice. Wardens - very good, chatty, friendly - other reviewers did not find this but none of us had any problem with any of them. We were asked to move our car from the side of our van to the front to make more space for a disabled unit to come in but he was perfectly nice about it and it was no problem at all. Would I go again? YES, unreservedly - if only for another jar of very nice local honey from the Warden's little shop!
