Great Stay, Great Wardens, Perfectly safe.

We stayed here for 15 nights recently. Everyone on the warden team was superb - helpful, friendly and hard working but always finding time to say hello or deal with any queries. This was the first time away in our new caravan following the easing of lockdown and we felt perfectly safe. We used our own bathroom facilities during the stay but did venture out to the communal washing up facilities (wearing our masks) to do the washing up and clean our Cadac. Other members who we encountered there also wore their masks so we felt perfectly safe. There were lots of hand sanitisers around the facility block and they were always full so there was never a problem about taking stuff to the bins, emptying waste water, visiting the elsan disposal point or replenshing our aquaroll. It was just great to be back on a club site watching members going about their daily lives and chatting with a few about our shared lockdown experiences. We hadn't visited this site before but found lots of places to visit - Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Pickering, Malton and further afield, Staithes and Saltburn. We can recommend them all. The regular evening drive down to Scarborough to park up overlooking the sea (and occasionally sharing a bag of chips) was a real treat. To present a balanced review, I'd have to express concern about the fact that some members showed scant regard for the 5mph speed limit whilst on the site. Too often, the biggest culprits were those arriving for the first time and towing their caravan. It was as if they were terrified that somebody might beat them to their preferred pitch. Fortunately, there were no children on the site but there really is no excuse to drive so fast. I'd also say that we would choose a different pitch next time. We chose one at the head of an enclosed area for several units. This meant that those members walking out to exercise their dogs often stopped at the grass by the side of our caravan to allow their dogs to urinate before proceeding on their way. One morning, we found dog faeces had been left on the same grass area - so much easier to let your dog exercise late at night when nobody can see that you have no intention of cleaning up after your pet. Having to clear up the mess left by somebody else's dog when you choose not to own one yourself, is just stomach churning. Vile! That aside, we had a lovely time and would have no hesitation in visiting this site again - if we can get a booking!
