Wet and windy

When arriving at site weather turned horrible and by the time we set up caravan were soaked through to the skin normally usually other members rally round to help but no one did this time . Site was clean and toilets etc were spotless only fault was being under trees and the birds left lots of mess on awning.Went by train to Liverpool for the day as easily accessible from site would come again but would watch where I set up caravan

Another great CC site

Had a week at Southport CC site, usual excellent cleanliness and everything well maintained as most sites. Great location, Nice walk through the park into town takes about 15 minutes, supermarket close by too. We set up in the newer part of the site which is quite open and was rather windy a couple of nights.  Had a bit of a problem pegging the awning down as the hard standing was soft in a few spots and the pegs kept pulling out. Had no problems at all with the TV reception as stated in other reviews, also although we didn't see much of the wardens, found them warm and friendly when we did.

Poor value for money

In recent years many of our caravan friends have left the CC.This is mainly because of site costs and staff attitudes. Both of these are exemplified by the Southport site. Site fees are 30 percent in excess of many comparable non CC sites in the same area. Many of these sites also offer free WiFi which actually works and either good TV reception or booster systems.  The WiFi reception at Southport CC site is reputedly very poor as is TV reception. At the prices charged we should at least get a booster system.  On the positive side the site and facilities are very clean. The site is well situated with good easy access to the town and leisure facilities. I have visited this site at least six times over the past 15 years and have found the staff increasingly aloof and impersonal. The only reason I continue to use  this site is that I get free site night vouchers for using a CC credit card. There is no way I would pay full price for facilities and service of this quality. I remain in the CC in order to access the CL network and now rarely use CC sites.

First & Last Caravan Club Visit

They say first impressions count, and the impression made by the staff at Southport is very poor. We have never stopped on a Caravan Club Site before as we have only just become members. We were disappointed with the staff from day one, and have never met so many miserable people in our lives. No friendly warm welcome, or any real presence from any staff on site other than cleaning the toilets. Always enjoy having a natter with the wardens, but very rarely saw them out and about around the site. The site itself is immaculate and this alone just about saved the break for us. Plus there are lovely walks along the beach, which is just over the road, as well as the fun fair which is about a 10 minute walk away. I would have to say the site in general seems very child unfriendly, for the exception of children who tear around on bikes with out any manners or a care in the world. This may be the normal thing for a Caravan Club site, as we have never visited one before. We had booked several up, but after visiting here we will not be taking these and have already cancelled. Its a shame, as I have already stated, the site is fantastic and has lots to do around it. Its just a shame that the staff are so rude and unfriendly, to the point you are made to feel unwelcome. Very disappointed and did not live up to expectations given when taking out our membership.

Great little site, I will be back, nothing surer.

This is a lovely site in a great location, the facilities are clean and tidy and the staff friendly and welcoming.  A 10 minute walk through the beautifully kept Victoria park brings you out by the Morrisons supermarket, from here you can either head towards the lake, marine Plaza and Pleasure-land or head for the shops of Lord street and the town centre.  I stayed on the site for 5 nights in my Motorhome with my wife and 7 year old son, we also have 2 small dogs, we found plenty of dog walking space both in the park and across the quiet road in the dunes.  There is a children's play park just off the site and a gastro pub about 5 minutes walk away.  I really can't fault the site at all and will be a regular visitor.

Always clean and tidy. Good for youngsters with park next door, fun fair 10 minute walk away, and good for cyclists. Friendly helpful staff.

Maybe a little noisy at night, but....

Reading other reviews, we were prepared to expect noise from traffic on the adjacent road - and we were not disappointed!  However, our experience of all sites that are so close to town amenities is the same and we think it is a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to walk everywhere (we are in a motorhome, so don't always have independent transport).  The site facilities are immaculate and it is located between the beach and a beautiful park.  Directly through the park is a good Chinese restaurant - we have a dog, so settled for the takeaway option, which was excellent.  All in all, a good site for those in a motorhome, those with dogs and families.

What a transformation!

Congratulations on a wonderful transformation to Southport Club Site. A much needed new extension to the site plus an excellent (and much needed) refurb to the old site makes a stay here a pleasure, rather than an endurance, as it was before, with tired facilities and (it seemed to me) de-moralised wardens. The site will always be fully used due to it's great position, with Victoria park next door, and the Splashworld pool, the newly built kids' playground, crazy golf, the beach, Morrisons supermarket, the excellent Fun Fare (for all ages!), and the town centre all within walking distance, or take the park-and-ride bus from the end of the lane. The wardens were all very friendly and did a great job of looking after things. Do visit, it's worth every penny!

Southport club site

Really enjoyed staying at this site. Ideal for Southport and surrounding area. Easy to walk into southport. As someone who likes to let the morning drift by, it was nice to see a club site that cleaned the shower/toilet blocks in the quiet period which is the afternoon allowing you to shower at a time that suits you in the morning. Unfortunately two negatives for me. One is the wifi, unless you are desperate don't bother paying for it as it is very slow. The other negative applies to other caravan club sites and not just this one. It quite clearly states in the site information that if you would like to stay behind 12pm ask a warden and they will try to accomadate it if possible. We fancied spending the Sunday afternoon in southport and asked if we could remain on our pitch if the site wasn't full. We were told that there was no chance of doing this. However looking at the site booking page online it clearly wasn't full so can not understand why we couldn't remain on our pitch for a few more hours. Generally the club really need to review the exit times on a Sunday as 12pm is really inconvenient for quite a lot of the members. It really needs to be moved to 4pm. We would return to the site again.
