Quiet - other than help-desk calls

We had been trying to get away in our motorhome all year, and with the season fast slipping away, we managed 4 nights at Southport. Ahhh. What a lovely site. Convenient for all of Southport's attractions as well as a beautiful nature reserve just across the road, a Victorian park adjascent to the new section and an ice cream van on the prom. The wardens were cheerful, the facilities were spotless, the sun was shining. What more could we need? Well, the one thing we'd booked this site specifically for, which was the supposedly recently-upgraded wifi which we both needed to stay in contact with work, a condition of our break. "The install should give an average line speed increased from 4.9 Mbps to 49.7 Mbps with the lowest expected to be 10 Mbps and the highest 80Mbps" the wifi update on the CC site says. Well, it was totally miserable, crawled along in slo-mo, dropped out often and only worked at all after daily calls to the warden's tech helpdesk. It reliably clicked off at around 6.45pm for at least 90 minutes, and again late at night and again in the morning. It was difficult enough to get away for 4 nights, but being able to stay connected was part of the deal! With no connection, the stress level was higher than it needed to have been. I do hope the CC don't consider their internet problem "fixed" yet. Families with young children should ensure they still bring DVDs for wet days as streaming is impossible; parents who need to stay in touch with work should perhaps find alternative destinations with proper connections. We will definitely be coming to Southport again; we just won't expect any wifi.
