Good for families

Access very difficult

Stayed here this week. This is in many ways a great site, walking distance from lovely beach and three pubs. Quiet a peaceful. But we will never return. The access in both directions is by winding, narrow roads. We lost count of the number of times we had to stop and give way to oncoming traffic, including lorries and buses. While we are experienced caravaners this was a very stressful start and finish from our stay, while other guests had damaged their caravans. This really should be emphasised in the site description. Also the shower blocks were very basic and in need of bringing up to date. No stalls and very few hooks in shower cubicals. No curtains on sinks for privacy.

Totally agree with you about the very busy and narrow access road to the site - it's a dangerous road, totally unsuitable for caravans.

To add to our previous review in more detail I would like to point out that the difficult approach road extends most of the way from Kingsbridge to the site. This is a distance of just over six miles with numerous bottlenecks. I have been towing for over forty five years and flew for a living for many years so fitting "wide loads" through narrow gaps is not something I have a problem with, yet!! However, the problem is traffic from the opposite direction including buses. Many seem to expect me as a caravanner to back up and even on occasion think they could get through "the gap" better than me. Oh dear. I suspect that some if not all of this attitude stems from the fairly well documented hostility from some quarters towards caravans and caravanners. I concede that there is very little we can do about this.

It would perhaps be good for the challenging and lengthy arrival route to Starts Bay to be pointed out in the sites' information as much for the many newbies to caravanning as anybody. It is these people who are most likely to damage there vans which is very sad and would understandably  put some people off caravanning for life.

I suspect the site and the club would respond with the comment that they have had very few complaints, but they wouldn't would they, this is Britain ;).
