Welcoming and Family Friendly

We stayed here back in November for 2 nights, we have 2 children under 5 so made use of the family bathroom. The service block has clearly recently been done up and has been maintained to a very high standard. The showers/bathrooms were very warm with no drafts etc The drying room was made good use of as the weather was rather wild, however that did not stop us in our tracks. We went swimming to the local pool, there is an excellent play park just beside the leisure center as well. We will defiantly be coming back to visit again in the near future.

A gem of a site

Firstly the only reason this site does not get a clean 5 stars across the board is the little bit of road noise from the main road into Stonehaven, and it is a little bit of road noise. The sound of the sea is good. This is not the first time we have stayed at this site. With it being New Year we were expecting there to be more site noise. Totally wrong. There was a carnival with rides set up beside the site but they finished early evening. Caravan Club wardens get a bit of stick from some quarters but the ones at Stonehaven are superb. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were quite prepared to wait but pitches were vacant and we were welcomed on. The site is ideally located for a short walk into town or an even shorter walk to one of the best fish and chip shops in the UK , and also an incredible ice cream shop. There is also a restaurant . If you have a four legged friend with you there is a nearby park or coastal walks. We don't like too far away from this site but are happy to go there as Stonehaven is excellent and the welcome and friendly atmosphere on the site is second to none. All CC members should visit this site at least once. All CC wardens should visit this site and see if they come up to the mark. If all sites aspired to be as good as Stonehaven every site would be fantastic.

Stonehaven Hogmanay

First visit to this site although not new to Stonehaven. A little worried at first with our pitch looking over to the nearby very loud temporary fun fair - however it was all quiet before half eight in the evening! Site is in a great location with excellent facilities. Enjoyed the live music in the Market Square before heading off to watch the fire balls and fireworks. Also saw some very brave ladies taking a New Years Day dip in the sea close to the site before heading home! A very enjoyable Hogmanay!

Can't fault it!

We have visited this site several times before as it is the closest to Aberdeen, where our daughter and her family live. This visit was something special as our daughter was due to give birth to her second child on 14 December, so we had booked a fully serviced pitch from 12 - 27 December on the assumption that the baby would be late, and she was!  Elspeth Rose finally made an abrupt appearance at 9pm on 25th December, and was delivered by her father before the paramedics arrived.  Happily, Mum is very well and Elspeth is now thriving. We had advised the wardens of our circumstances when we arrived on 12th, and they were tremendously supportive to us throughout our stay.  I cannot thank and praise them enough.  They even accommodated us, an additional nights stay at short notice since the baby was late in arriving. The site and shower block as always was spotless.  Despite the very cold weather (-4C some nights) the water supply taps did not freeze as they have been fitted with trace heaters.  This being our first winter stay, I was not clever enough to realise that the hose connecting the water supply to the caravan would freeze in such conditions, so I had to bring the hose into the caravan to defrost it before we could have water again.  A lesson learned for the future! On one day we brought our 2 year old grandson to the site where he stayed overnight.  He enjoyed the children's playground next to the leisure centre that is adjacent to the site, and the cafe's in Stonehaven.  The playground on the site is quite small with only a couple of small rides. We like the town of Stonehaven which has grown from the original small fishing village.  The pub/restaurants around the harbour as always a pleasure to visit.  This time we also went to the Villa tea room nearby the harbour, and found it to be very good. We will definitely be back at this site several times in 2015 to visit our daughter, and her now extended family.  we're looking forward to it already.
