Lovely stay!

Weather didn’t exactly play ball, but we had a great time at Sutton on Sea. Perfect site for the seaside, only 3/4 mile to the prom. If you have bicycles then take them as you can cycle from Sutton right through to Mablethorpe. While in Mablethorpe, visit Lady B’s tearoom on Victoria Road, a wonderful tearoom that must be visited…..at least once if not more. Country style pubs are very few & far between…if any! So it’s either eat in the ‘van or down the many chip shops. A chip van visits the site 3 or 4 nights, tried them once & they were delicious. Wardens & facilities were, as usual, top notch, no complaints whatsoever. Very chatty and very pleasant, top marks guys!

Another visit to SOS

Having been here twice before we were well aware of the site and its facility's, and again they did not disappoint, the toilet and shower block has been totally rebuilt and is a credit to the club, the site is well laid out with plenty of space in between each pitch. The walk into town is about one mile and is best to avoid the main road route, the best route is to walk through a housing estate until you get to the sea defence, then walk along it until you reach the town.

Clean & friendly

The staff are very pleasant, the site and facilities are very clean. It is well equiped with regard to toilets showers etc. Two downfalls, too many dogs, having to listen to dogs barking at 7-0 am is not very nice and there seems to be a multitude of pigeons so be prepared to clean everything when you get home. Sutton-on-sea is nice area with a cycle/walkway along the sea edge for several miles. If you have children a visit to Mablethorpe is worthwhile where there is a park with a lake, motor boats and pedalo for hire, fenced off paddling pool and water features, small go cart track, adventure playground for little ones, all very clean and well kept with cafe/ ice cream etc. Go over the small hill at the park and you are at the beach.

Sutton not to far from the Sea

Enjoyed my recent visit, didn't pick a very good pitch but lucky to get as called in on spec and they only had a few pitches left, the one I chose was down the bottom near childrens playground not good if you're not into children, however, it was by the back gate which led onto a footpath which was the old railway line and also to the beach. Great for dog walkers. Someone complained about the trees and the birds of which there were plenty, in fact I had Gene Kelly tap dancing on the roof of my van in the early hours, should have seen the dogs face. Didn't walk to beach this time but will try next time its about 5 mins away. Thanks for a great stay.

Worth the wait

We booked this site, then were told it was closed due to refurb, tried again then Covid hit. Third time lucky, just had a great 10 days with luckily pretty good weather. The site is lovely and quiet though I do have to agree with some of the “tree” comments after seeing the state of some cars and Caravans covered in bird mess. The facilities block is lovely, spacious and warm. The band system working well. We used our bikes extensively along the esplanade, lots of coffee stops. Visited Mablethorpe, market day had lots of local produce. Sutton on Sea, great butchers, The Dolphin for fish and chips and local hardware store that had “everything”. However the single thing that made this trip for us were the wardens, they were the friendliest we have come across in a long time, always had time for a chat and useful local info. Though an enhanced repertoire of whistling songs would be appreciated lol 😂 We will be back.

Tree’s tree’s and more tree’s

Site spoilt by overhanging tree’s especially in the service pitch area. My car and caravan have never been in such a mess, took me two full days to clean them when home. Never again will I pitch under tree’s. As well as the mess made, the blxxdy pigeons drove us mad. My own fault some would say as I should have done research before hand. Shame as the site was in a good position with excellent friendly staff and everywhere very clean. I really feel that the tree’s need attention, it was bad enough for us but standard pitches behind us where totally overwhelmed. Love Sutton on sea but would not use this site again.

Not for solo wheelchair users

Great wardens, very friendly.... But, the site has had a complete refurbishment, and huge mistakes have been made, if you are a wheelchairuser. The chemical toilet disposal room is tiny, impossible to empty a cassette from a wheelchair, unless it's less than half full due to the angle you have to approach from . The hard standing are so deep, it's really hard to move a wheelchair on, but they may firm up over time,, grass pitches, when available, are a slightly better option. caravan and camping club 4 miles away in Mablethorpe is so much more accessible. Makes you wonder if there is any consultation with disabled on the design of the facilities, sad to see such poor design these days, yes, I know, I am a very small minority, but it would cost no more to get it right, than get it so badly wrong. Come on caravan Club, it's not acceptable these days to get things so badly wrong

Great site

Had a week here in June 2021. Friendly wardens and all very clean and tidy. Good location for the east coast. The beach is about 25 minute walk across fields. The beaches around here are great, mostly sand and good walks from Sutton to Mablethorpe. If you have young children and want a beach holiday you probably will need to drive to the coast. We will return no doubt.
