Spent 2 nights at Tewkesbury returning to Lancashire from Dorset. Nice welcome from the site staff who marked up the map with the available pitches of the type we'd booked, which made the choice a lot easier. Opted for a pitch near the exit, which was more spacious than others on the site.
Toilet block is large and very modern, feels like the site is possibly on the large side for only one toilet block, but realise that we had pitched about as far away as it's possible to be! The water saving considerations that are in place meant that the showers had a little less water than other sites we've stopped on, but wasn't a problem.
Proximity to Tewkesbury was great, it's a fantastic little town with a lot going on, plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops, and a nice walk along the river too. Having the park on the site boundary is really good for dog walks each day. We also did part of the battle trail, which is worth doing.
Location, Location, Location
This is one of the few Club sites that we would return to. We currently have a list of only two - Tewkesbury & Abbey Woods. Location, Location, Location - that's what makes it so special. The site is nestled nearby to the lovely Tewkesbury Abbey and is only a few minutes walk into the bustling town. Pubs, cafes, shops all in abundance. We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed it. Pitch 136. The sun sets (in August) just past the tower of the Abbey.
Simply beautiful
Our first stop off from the South West heading towards our NC500 journey.
What can we say other than, a beautiful location, well presented and flat pitches. Friendly welcoming staff with bags of advice and local knowledge. Amenities all modern and clean. Visited local town of Tewksbury, which was literally a 5 min stroll. Found the local people and pubs very dog friendly and welcoming.
Local Dog field just outside the site gate. Plenty of room to exercise all breeds of dogs. Beautiful sound of the Abby ringing its bells in the background whilst waking up in the morning and walking the local area.
Definitely revisiting for longer and to explore more.
Nice site and town
We stop at Tewkesbury whenever travelling North. It’s a lovely site with great staff. The town has a lot to offer, from a lovely abbey and historic events, music festivals, shopping, and good walks. You do get a bell that sounds the time throughout the day and night (the abbey is next door and in view of the site) but it’s not that problematic and adds to the character. Will we be back - yep!
Our new North/ South Stopover site
Stayed at Tewkesbury on 2 separate nights as part of a longer trip to Devon, using the site as a stopover. On both occasions we were greeted cheerily by the wardens and then pitched up. The site has mostly flat pitches and a modern facility block, with considerate cleaning times during the afternoon. The site is well kept and also has a beautiful flower display at the entrance. TV signal is poor to average depending on where you are on site, and the free WiFi is ok for email etc. The town is only a 5 min walk away with plenty of pubs, food outlets, cafes and shops, with the Abbey also on the way into town. I think we've found our new North/ South stopover site!
Tewksbury Abbey
Stayed at Tewksbury Abbey campsite 19 07 24 , lovely site, good facilities and great location.
Only one issue, disappointing welcome because we arrived at 12.46 perfectly happy to wait
until 1 pm , only us and one other vehicle so plenty of room , we were greeted by a warden who
proceeded to tell us off because we had arrived to early , he was very cross and quite rude.
Great stay
Really enjoyed this site. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. The big plus point for us was the town being in easy walking distance and very charming. Loved our visit to the Abbey. The site is used to break the journey to Devon/Cornwall so there was a lot of coming and goings which is always fun! A good stay.
Lovely visit
We have visited the before but not for a few years,it was good to see the site has addressed some of the problems caused by flood water,ie hook ups on much higher posts, which at 1st we couldn't find lol.
We were given a great pitch as my husband has mobility issues, right near to the service points and close by to the toilets.
Tewkesbury is a lovely town with plenty of places to enjoy a coffee, or meal. The surrounding area has plenty to see and do,a place worth a visit especially if the weather isn't goid is the huge Dobbies garden centre on the Eversham Rd.We had a very nice lunch there .
I visited the Abbey for the 1st time and enjoyed the history and Bell ringing.
All in all a great week away.
Great location
Fantastic site right in the centre of Tewkesbury with the beautiful Abbey on the doorstep. Pitches are a good size, facilities are large and clean. Staff always friendly. Our go to stop to break a motorway journey north/south.
