Magnificent Walks

Have visited Rosedale Abbey five times, albeit living in the South. Booked in for four nights, but stayed a further three. So many wonderful walks from here up on the Moors and Rigg. Our favourite is climbing up the footpath along side Chimney Top Road, and walking the old railway line especially with a trip to the Dales Tea Room. Not to be missed!

Hidden Gem

Loved this hidden gem of a site no facilities but a fantastic place. Some great walks right from the site. Wardens hard working friendly people the best kind of wardens you can get. Please visit the tea room just close to the site the cake we had was the best its called Graze on the Green or something like that. Site is flat shame that they don't have hard standing pitches. Bit of a long narrow drive from the main road from Pickering but worth it for the peace and quiet.

A brilliant minimum facilities site

We stayed here for three nights. It is a real gem, good grass pitches, peaceful site and friendly staff. There is pub opposite - but a better one up the hill with great views across Rosedale and the best steak pie we've had for ages. As regular CL users, the lack of toilets/shower was no problem at all.

Absolutely peaceful and beautiful

This is the first caravan club site we have been too since getting our caravan and joining. We were later than expected to arrive but reception was open and helpful in getting us booked in. Each pitch was amble for car and awning and perfectly manicured. The cleanliness and tidiness of the site was impeccable. Got a wave off the warden as we left and told him we would defiantly be back.

100% from us Westie's

This is the first time we have booked a site without a toilet/shower block. We love the site nice and peaceful. Staff very friendly and helpful, cannot fault this site. Would be nice if there was a dog walking area has a know some people are funny about dogs watering the grass, but we walked closest to the outer hedging.

Another Great Simple Site On The Network

Last minute booking and we were asked on arrival if we knew there was no toilet block. That's why we booked - because it is a simple site with no facilities and therefore quiet and peaceful. It was a beautiful weekend, the sun shone, the birds sang and the site was virtually empty. That is so sad in a way - but lucky for us. There were no more than 10 units on this beautiful, linear site and we were 'Billy No Mates' down in The Paddock. Great visits close by both on the Moors and the coast. We will certainly return especially at £14 a night. Pubs, cafes and shops in walking distance in the village.

Pretty but off grid

Review of visit April 2017. Visited for the Daffodils in this valley & the Farndale Valley, all very pretty. NYM railway very good day out but strong price, careful planning reaped rewards and steamy photos. Lots to do in area with research. Arrived for check in with the temporary wardens, greeted with "you do know there is no toilet block ?". Regular wardens very helpful & pleasant. Hoping the CMC might see if there is anything in our dwindling club coffers to install a WIFI & telephone link to the site - its basically a black spot and requires some effort to get a signal up in the local hills. A really poor situation in 2017, unless that's what's wanted, and therefore be thoughtful if wifi or phone is essential for kids or home contact etc. There is no real 3G or 4G on site either so a mifi wont help. Pretty good value clean but basic firm grass pitches site which was suprisingly very quiet on the pre Easter weekend, hence un-used overflow paddock area handy for dog exercising. Seems that this site's previous popularity has maybe dwindled by 2017 ? A more commercial private owned site is over the road at £24pn with a toilet block & wifi, busy !!

So sad the wardens are leaving

We just love staying at Rosedale it's so quiet and we'll kept. We are very sorry that the current Wardens Gary and Anne are leaving they are so lovely the best we have met. The site was so lovely in the summer with beautiful plants and bird feeders. We have come across a few stuffy wardens but not these two so I'm hoping the new wardens are as approachable. We are looking forward to next year as we hate having to say goodbye to our Favourite site.

The Howard by Howard

We have just returned from our latest visit to The Howard. We have stayed there on a number of occasions and rate it as our favourite site. However we were extremely disappointed to find the current wardens, Gary and Anne are being moved. Why? If it ain't broke don't mend it. In my view Gary and Anne make the site what it is. They are a lovely couple, always ready to help and it is obvious by the way the flower beds etc are set out and cared for they try very hard to make the site welcoming. As I said before if it ain' broke don't fix it. I feel you are making a big mistake.
