Mature couple enjoy walks and heritage.

The site is all grass no hard standing very flat, excellent vehicle access, you must follow the advised route in and out, warden was helpful, will no doubt go again. We had some pleasant walks visited Whitby and the North Yorks Railway.

A late Summer break

This is a beautiful, well kept site which is a credit to the wardens who are pleasant and helpful. The lovely village of Rosedale Abbey is a short walk from the site and provides, cafes, bakery's, pubs and a village shop. We bought a booklet of local walks from the wardens office. We did two walks and it was great to see more of the local area on foot. We enjoyed some great views from the moors and surrounding countryside. We will certainly return in the future and would recommend to others without hesitation.

Peace and quiet.....totally tranquil

Stayed here for the first 4 nights of our two week holiday and loved the peace and quiet.  It was great having no mobile signal or wifi as it enabled us to totally switch off from life!  We had some great walks, even managing to walk up Chimney Bank, which was not easy, but once at the car park, there are miles of flat moors to walk with fabulous scenery.  Will be back for more!

made it back this time !!!

finally got back to this wonderful site after my last visit, that was cut short ( see didn't make the Rosedale show review) The sun was shining and everything looked perfect ,and the pitches were not full on this occasion . this is my third review of this site and every time i only have praise to the wardens ,who make this site a true gem. i understand that this is there last season ,and i wish them well for the future ,and their next site will also be a credit to them. all the boxes get full marks ,and the reason why is that you get what it says on the tin . great location ,good walks ,good pubs ,great village ,and not a million miles from the coast .

Sunshine and tranquility

We shared three days here with friends who drove all the way up from Kent - on our recommendation of the site. A peaceful and beautiful location, with well-tended pitches in a small village located among stunning scenery. We found the lack of WiFi and mobile phone signal the only downside. The wardens were friendly and efficient, and had made a real effort to keep the site in pristine condition.

Don't tell anyone!!!

If I was a selfish person I would keep this to myself. But credit where credit's due. This is a lovely site, wonderful pubs and eateries on the door step and locally, with a fish and chip van that turns up in the village on Friday's, who could ask for more! Well maintained, helpful staff. We will definitely frequent this site as there is more to see and do.

Peaceful Site

We stayed here for a weekend at the start of August as its only 45 minutes from our house. Great little site for a weekend break. Site immaculate and staff friendly. We found a spot in the far paddock with one other caravan and it was ideal for our older boys to run around on without disturbing anyone else. Ideally placed to visit the moors but good for just a relaxing weekend break. We will be visiting here again in the future

Lovely peaceful site

This was our first stay on this site. We arrived on Bank Holiday Monday after some heavy rain over the weekend and although this is a grass only site the very friendly and helpful wardens had obviously done their best to maintain the grass pitches with very little evidence of damage. We were in a motorhome and guided onto our chosen pitch by the warden who provided us with mats to put under the wheels. We were parked on the side closest to the road so we did get some traffic noise but after the bank holiday Monday it was quieter and during the night it was very quiet. There are no toilets or showers on the site and nothing really for children to do (unless they like walking!) We stayed for 3 nights. Had a lovely meal in the hotel opposite the site and a couple of good walks we picked out from the booklet purchased from reception.

A third lovely visit

Picked this site once again due to close location to me. I like the fact that no mobile signal. Always a warm welcome from Gary and his wife. Very hard working friendly couple. There is a relaxed atmosphere here. There was a bit of rain over the bank holiday which formed part of my 4 night stay. I agree that some members don't look after the grass in wet conditions and just spin off leaving a mess behind for others . A lovely position for great walks around Rosedale. One great tea shop and many eateries around the village. Looking forward to my next visit already.

Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing.

People visiting the site need to be aware that this one is special! No toilet block, papers, maps or bread  etc for sale on site. All available in the village. That's not the club's decision but one down to planning conditions. We had no problems with the tv signal and had a fair range of channels but not all available at home. Great to leave the web and phone at home but for the desperate try the White Horse, 5 minutes up the hill.  Good food and drink there too.  Our visit coincided with two long spells of heavy rain.  Sadly, some members don't know how to use grass pitches when they are wet. Drive in a straight line and follow the warden's advice. There is plastic griding under parts of the site but some idiots had to do it their way, thus making the wonderful friendly helpful and extremely hard working wardens' job unnecessarily difficult. Negatives - members thinking it's fine to allow their dogs to wander around the site off lead leaving their deposits as they go, and wonderful walks sadly which abandon you (path markers and way markers) missing. Enjoy this one - maybe we'll see you there on our next visit.
