Very well kept Site

We have stayed at The Howard several times over the years. It’s very reasonably priced because it has no facilities, which suits us fine. The wardens are lovely, and the site is well kept. There are lots of beautiful places to visit nearby Our experience this time was completely different to other times. Normally it is peaceful, with just a few vehicles passing quickly by the site on the adjacent road. However on this visit, it resembled more of doggy day care centre. Several of the caravans over the weekend had multiple dogs 3 or 4 per van. There is no dog walk as such, on this long narrow site, just a small enclosure where dogs can play. So most people seemed to exercise their dogs on the site, quite a few dogs were using the empty pitches as a toilet. I hasten to add that the owners picked up the mess they made, but it’s not an ideal situation. The other problem was the altercations between the multiple dog owners dogs whenever they passed another caravan with a dog outside. The snarling and barking carried on for most of the way down the site. One guy got so fed up with the regular commotion that he told the triple dog owner walking to get his dogs under control. Lots of caravanners with well behaved dogs, sat outside their caravan also seemed agitated by the aggressive “packs” of dogs barking and snarling at their dogs. I don’t know if this is the norm now, however I see lots of people asking how many dogs per van are allowed on sites. I do like and tolerate dogs, but this was a spoiler for me. Hope we were just unlucky on this weekend.
