Camping at its best...

Fantastic forest site (blessed with good weather) with simple service points and no amenities blocks meaning we were self-sufficient and very comfortable. Immediate forest access for walkies with the dog. (every MoHo and Caravan had a dog or two). Great birdsong, lots of deer and wildlife in general. A very well run site with good hosts/warden and super dog friendly. We shall return.

Great for dog owners

This is such a good site for dog owners, you can have long walks directly from the site or travel 10 minutes to other areas of Thetford Forest. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. Site was quiet and facilities well maintained. No toilet block but knew this before we went. Was surprised at how good the wifi was on this remote site. Only warning is the low water pressure, it does take a very long time to fill up the motorhome with water but it makes you get in the slow lane and relax.

Bird watch paradise.

Take bird feeders with you and watch Goldfinch, chaffinch, tits, Nuthatch and many more whilst drinking tea in bed. The wardens were very helpful, We cycled to Gooderstone Water Gardens and drove to Oxburgh Hall NT. Very peaceful holiday.

Quiet & Peaceful as ever except....

Another enjoyable short break spent at this site to unwind and chill out. As quiet and peaceful as ever except when the army decide to carry out one late night artillery fire training exercise and during the day when the US Air Force make full use of the afterburners as they fly over!! It won't stop us coming back though as the peace and quiet is only disturbed for a short period of time.

Walk in the woods

Great site, in the woods, easy access and tracks you can walk along, or go rough in the wild woods. Nice wardens, easy to chat to.

Bob and Astra go caravanning

Whilst we have been to this fantastic site several times, this was the first outing for our new dog, Astra. Our previous staffie, Ralph had absolutely loved the caravan and would take up residence, ready for the off, as soon as the van was unlocked at home! This visit was Astra's first with her new family, with old stager Bob Labrador to show her the ropes. In Bob's case, this mostly consists of how to be a trip hazard. This site is our favourite for the dogs, and Astra took to it straight away. Once again we were lucky with glorious weather - paddling and swimming in October! Walking straight into mile of forest paths from the campsite, with plenty of local places to visit - this site is in a superb location and offers easy caravan pitching on level ground with woodland glades. There are two things to note - one for the Club - please consider the less well muscled amongst us when making new hard standing - it was almost impossible for me to get the awning rock pegs into the ground. Does it need to be this solid? Secondly, Astra is a very nervous dog when it comes to loud noises, and this site has a continuing association with the British military. Previously the WW2 training ground for the Desert Rats, the surrounding forest has remnants of their camp and excellent information boards. So far, no problem. However the army STANTA training ground is less than a mile away and we were subject to firing on two nights. 'Aaah, fireworks' said one of our number until it became clear that this was in fact machine gun fire! Cue trembling dog burrowing under the quilt and pillows. However, the noise was short lived and the wonderful peace and quiet restored - it certainly won't put us off one bit from this great site. Wardens helpful and hard working as always, and the Norfolk baked dog treats which are stocked in the shop always go down well here!
