Love this site BUT.......

We have been to Thetford many, many times before and have always loved it. I was disappointed to say this visit wasn't as good as previously. The site is fantastic and in a great setting in the middle of the forest where there is an abundance of wildlife and brilliant walks. it is quiet and peaceful (mainly) and kept in good order. The reason for marking it down this time is the wardens. They are friendly and were welcoming. However, they are quite strict on somethings but very lapse on others. We had some rather noisy people near us on this visit. They had visitors for one day and proceeded to get drunk (not got a problem with that at all). The problem was they were very loud, and annoying to other caravan users. One old chap asked them to be a little quiet and they became very rude to him, verbally abusing him. It took almost 6 hours for the warden to intervene and ask them to quiet down. They would have known about the noise as they were sitting outside their van and as I walked past I could hear the noise. What they did do was walk down and ask the noisy visitors to keep their two dogs on a lead. To be honest the dogs were good as gold and were not wandering from the pitch, so not sure why they asked them to keep the dogs on the lead but not keep the noise down! This was the only thing I ever saw them point out. They did not stop people and tell them about their speed around site, I would say easily 15 - 20 mph which is quite dangerous as there were lots of children on site. Also someone put their caravan in incorrectly which meant there was not 6 metres between vans (huge fire hazard which is clearly stated in the Caravan Club rules). They did not ask them to put it in correctly which amazed me This probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if they hadn't been so choosey over what they tackled and what they decided to let slide. I think speed and fire safety is much more important than a couple of well behaved dogs being off a lead. Sorry about the moan. Thetford is really a nice site.

Always Good

Great site, great location for dog walking . Also great for Children due to the amount of space. Please be aware, that there is no specific play area so smaller children will need to be kept an eye on as they could wander off and get lost. Great assistant wardens Andy and his wife, not strict like some sites we’ve been too notably the nightmare warden at Ferry Meadows

We had a lovely quiet few days here.

This was a first trip out with a new to us caravan and we loved it. We had the opportunity to test out everything, even the heater due to inclement weather, and it all worked. Lovely walks and beautiful surroundings.

Agree with all reviews

Great site, staff very cheerful and helpful, very very quiet as no families mostly couples. If you have pets the walks are great, downside no toilet block so be prepared to keep dragging that cassette to be emptied. Highly recommend

We arrived Friday evening to a warm welcome and pitched our motor home in a quiet spot. Although we arrived quite late we were able to access the excellent facilities and soon settled in. The following morning we found the numerous trails leading off the site - ideal for walking the dog and biking. It was so peaceful we saw plenty of birds and the local wildlife, including deer. A week end - didn't seem long enough! We will certainly come back again.

Absolutely brilliant staff and beautiful place

This is a lovely place to motorhome/caravan, picturesque, peaceful and very tidy. Great for dog walking and chilling. Facilities clean and adequate, but note there are no showers/toilets, so be prepared to utilise your bathroom facilities in the van. Wardens fantastic, I arrived late and they could not have done more to make me feel welcome. Keith and Sarah were brilliant, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Definately an asset to the Caravan and Motorhome Club, they have absolutely made me a fan of the site, will be visiting again and again. Thank you once again and because the site is now closed sending you all an early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Beautiful walks

I booked for the weekend and didn't read that there were no toilet/shower facilities. This didn't bother me as I have a loo but I'd love to stay longer in future so a shower block would be great as I don't have facilities. The site itself is lovely for getting away from it all and just being with nature. Beautiful pine, oak, birch and others. Hundreds of squirrels and loads of deer and birds. It was lovely to walk in the forest. The lady who greeted me was very friendly and helpful If your kids love playing in the woods and making their own fun then this is perfect. I'll definitely return.

A really peaceful site.

Stayed here for a short week-end (as Incleboro Fields was full). Warm and friendly greeting with clear instructions given me. A really pleasant and peaceful site with an abundance of wild life. You must visit the only Desert Rat's museum in the world. It id free, open at somewhat irregular hours and run by a really charming gentleman who does know his stuff. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful site, highly recommended

This was my first visit to this site but it won’t be my last. The welcome received was very warm indeed and the location of the site is wonderful. Me and my dogs enjoyed walks in the forest and were fortunate enough to see Roe Deer during every walk that we took. The site itself is beautiful, tidy and clean, and so very quiet. Stepping outside the van at night you are treated to absolute silence apart from the occasional call of a night-time animal in the surrounding forest. Clearly the lack of toilet/shower facilities is a drawback at this site but for a long weekend it really isn’t any real hardship to use your van, although even that may be a challenge for families. I am very much looking forward to my next stay at Thetford Forest and strongly suspect that it may become a regular haunt for me and my four-legged fiends.
