Beautiful site spoilt by noisy farmer and aircraft.

This site is in a beautiful location, we visited a few years ago and loved it. This time however was a different experience due to the local farmer starting his Bird-scarer cannon at 6.30am every morning and keeping it going for most of the day. He breeds Geese for the Christmas market so presumably it will be running until then. In addition the training jets from RAF Lakenheath are very active and very noisy, you either love them or hate them so this may not be a problem to some people. Overall I booked the site expecting it to be quiet as it was last time, not unreasonable give it's location in the middle of a forest but was so disappointed that I will not return again.

Thank you for your review. We were looking to visiting  this site, but yours and other other recent reviews have put us off, particularly comments about the wardens behaviour along with his dogs!

Having been on a seasonal pitch at Thetford for the last two years, can I just say its only the last couple of weeks that there has been the extra noise from the aircraft, they are clearly on exercise atm which, with all due respect you take a chance on when near any airforce base. I have an extremely low tolerance of noise, but we have had two happy years at Thetford and probably going back next year too.

The plus sides definitely outweigh the minuses at Thetford for us...so it cant be that bad folks :)

Having been to this site quite a few years it was really lovely to hear the American Jets from RAF Lakenheath. It has been too quite for several months and the noise was a joy. As for the farmer what is he suppose to do.  He has to keep his birds fed.  After a while you get use to the noise as my husband is a farmer you do get used to it.  it is a very peaceful site with lots of lovely walks in the forest for us and our dogs. I would definetly recommend this site.
