Fantastic place to rest

I was worried about having booked here when I read some of the reviews, but the wardens told me on arrival about bikes and, contrary to what I had read, my tv worked fine without any extra equipment and my phone (EE) worked perfectly too. It is a lovely, quiet site in a beautiful location and easily accessible from the M4 (approx 2 miles maximum) The wardens are really friendly and welcoming and it is a very peaceful and relaxing place to be.

Bike theft issues

We stayed on this site from Mon 7th to Thurs 10th June. An attempt was made to steal our electric bikes from our carrier at 1:30 AM on the 10th Luckily I woke up and disturbed the potential thieves. This is a lovely site but this problem seems to be rife and we will not return unless something drastically changes. Maybe a lock up building for bikes?

Concerned

Lovely location and friendly staff, however the site has known security issues with items regularly stolen, but only warning is a sign in the washing up area. Had an electric bike, which was locked to the motorhome, stolen on our second night. Staff were sympathetic and helpful, but told us it is a known problem. The site manager stated he couldn't find anything on the security cameras and was very defensive when asked to check earier in the evening. We did have a call later from staff to say that after a further check they had seen the bike going at around 12.30pm We warned a family nearby with similar bikes, who took further precautions (handle bars rotated and locked) Sadly they too bad their bike stolen the night after. Feel warnings should be more prominent and explained prior to arrival.we would not have taken electric bikes if the risk had been explained earlier. Would not recomend for this reason, and will not be returning.

Comment from the Club:

The site managers are always concerned that the members are happy and are safe, and will also do their utmost to help with issues that occur on site.

Disappointed

Just stayed 2 nights on this site and was initially impressed.  I understand that covid restrictions are essential but speaking to your guests like they are idiots is not OK.

2 night stay en rte home...

Nice site with friendly staff, however pitches 7 - 20 back on to the main road & it is noticeable. Mix of hard standing & grass. Other pitches are lower down & may well be sheltered from this.... Asda + fuel located nearby.

Good location and dog friendly

Only stayed here for one night on route to Pembrokeshire. Clean, neat and tidy site. Some road noise from dual carriageway passing near site but not a major problem . Near NT Tredegar house that’s probably worth a visit. Very good for dog owners as immediate access from site to a park to walk dogs. Found a good Indian takeaway and chip shop adjacent to Tredegar House if that’s your thing.

Second visit.

Following a visit in March, which was cut short due to the lock-down, we returned for a few nights in September and although the site was much busier this time, the grass pitch we had was flat and spacious, the pitches were well-spaced, everything was maintained up to the usual Club standards and the staff were cheery and helpful. We chose not to use the site facilities on this occasion. Despite being almost full the site was quiet and calm and the dogs greatly appreciated the direct access to the country park. We decided against visiting Newport itself, given the current situation, but had a pleasant walk from the 14 Locks Canal Centre a short drive away.

Lovely first experience of any club site.

Came here for a few days with family. Loved it. Nice and relaxed with well thought out in regards to water/Elsan together and the facilities block was spotless. Mobile signal was good on EE. I did log onto the wifi page and I think I saw 8p/day as the charge to use it but I might be wrong. I didn't use it but nice to know it's there. Pitches are massive (easily get a car, caravan and awning on) and most are level which is a huge bonus. Staff were all lovely. Even though I live local I fully intend to make it my weekend getaway.

Happy Caravaning

We've just come back from a wonderful week. The Wardens were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The adjacent park land was great for walking. Occasional road noise but didn't cause any problems. Ideally located for exploring in to Newport and Cardiff and the surrounding area. Only downside was the WiFi, was rubbish and they need to get it sorted and upgraded for this modern age.
