Good and bad

As expected with club sites very well run and managed. Of special note the toilet blocks were immaculately maintained. The negative, and this is as compared to other CAMC sites is that you really need your car to get anywhere. There is only one walk and that is the path to Dockray and then onward to Aira Force. There are no other decent routes to leave your car behind. The second, and again its only cruelly because its Lake District standards its not the prettiest of sites in a ex quarry/ new forestry planation. Finally the pub at Dockray has no staff so avoid if you want choice and service when dining out. The nearby farm shop a mile or two down the A66 is tragic. You are greeted by a aggressive guard dog as you enter, they too have no chef and the choice of locally sourced farm food ,bearing in mind your in cumbria is dire. That said I would return here as such a well managed site and decent overall location , very peaceful once the next door activity centre has closed for the day.
