We had a wonderful five days at Troutbeck Head last week. We booked at the last minute when a previous booking fell through. We were a little concerned about access as roads in the Lake District can be a little hair-raising for caravan towing, but we needn’t have worried. The access road is narrow but very quiet and we had no problems at all. We had a good choice of pitches, and chose one in the middle of the site. We wished we had explored the whole site before choosing, actually, because the pitches further away from reception have stunning views, but that was our fault. We were perfectly happy with the pitch we chose as it was level, convenient and had a decent view. Toilets and showers are immaculate, warm and plenty of hot water. The site is in a good location for visiting Keswick and Ullswater. Superb walks in the area and we also used the steamers around the lake. Loads of nice cafes and food shops around the area. On Friday the fish and chip van came, which was a bit of a treat, although more expensive than I expected. The dog walk on the site is the best we have seen; it’s a proper walk with views, rather than just a field! Best club site we’ve visited and we look forward to returning!
