A site of 2 halves

As the title suggests it depends on where you pitch how your experience is. We pitched by the racecourse rails on the tarmac. We chose that as it was raining and the ground by the pitches was soft and muddy as other vans had driven over the edges. There wasn't a race meet on and one wasn't due for some days so thought it would be nice and quiet. It wasn't, there is a pathway along the length of the course that is open to the public. It was a constant stream of folk walking, jogging and dog walking within a couple of feet of the van. We were woken at 6am by some inconsiderate person out walking his dog and on his phone loudly having a conversation. After that it was difficult to get back to sleep as more and more folk walked by, many having conversations or shouting on their dogs. At 07.30 the race course started up a noisy leaf blower machine and proceeded to drive it around the enclosure at the rear of our MH. This went on for over an hour, by which time we had given up on anymore sleep and got up. Not what I wanted after a very long drive the day before. I appreciate there is nothing the club could do to stop this and it's not their fault. Thankfully we were only there for one night, if it was for longer we would have moved pitches. The site is well looked after, the facilities old but warm and clean. The wardens on duty were very nice and friendly. The site is well placed to visit the town and the areas around it. Just be careful where you pitch.
