Great Site, but room for improvement

We love this part of the country, but this was our first visit to this site. Its a large and spacious site with generous pitches, and we found a lovely one at the top of the site, but some are awful. There is one that is right behind the service area facing the chemical emptying point...not something you want to see when eating your breakfast! The facilities are modern, the showers re opened during our stay, and I reckon they are the largest shower cubicles I've been in. Confusingly though, there wasnt the option to separate recycling from normal rubbish at the bins. When I queried this I was told that all separation of waste was done by the council, but everywhere else we went in the area this was not the case, and we saw recycling bins everywhere else that we went. The stunning areas of Woolacombe, Mortehoe and Putsborough are very close, and we visited all of these as well as Baggy Point, Croyde and Bull Point. Ilfracombe is a 15minute drive, or a 4 mile walk along the old railway line that runs behind the site. I thoroughly recommend this walk, which also takes you besides the old Slade Reservoirs. Word of warning though. This path is shared with cyclists, the majority of whom cycle responsibly, but some think its the Tour de France, and don't use their bells. Its also the only decent dog walk from the site, so keep it on a lead! Its catering for dog owners where this site really falls down and needs improving. There isnt a dedicated dog walk, nor are there any 'pit stops' that are popping up at other sites. There is an obvious area to the left of the gate as you go onto the footpath, and this would be a huge benefit to dog owners. The alternative is to go onto the footpath, but many dogs simply did their business around the site. So, room for improvement, but we had a great stay and will return.
