Great location, lovely beach nearby

A nice clean site with good facilities, friendly and helpful staff. However, there are few hard standings so book early if you need one. No WiFi at the time of our stay although there is a hotspot by reception. Our phone coverage (EE) was ok most of the time. The site shop is pretty much non-existant, no perishable goods for sale so come prepared. The nearest shop is a petrol station about one mile away, otherwise it's a trip to North Berwick. All that said, it's well worth a visit, especially if you like spending time on a sandy beach, walking (the local pubs are really nice, with good food), want to visit the sea bird centre in NB or spend a day in Edinburgh (about 30mins by train).

Fab site

Second time visiting this site last weekend. Highly recommend Very friendly, helpful staff Spotlessly clean Dog friendly So many different settings of pitches to choose from and all well spaced out and in various areas. Beside beautiful beach and woodland walks Close to the Castle Inn in Dirleton for food/drink. Nice walk into north Berwick with all its independent shops and lots of food options. Good spaces/play park for kids and good golf courses around. Also kids play area in woodland nearby. We will be back again! One downside common for club sites is not having the option to book a particular pitch in advance. But there are lots of nice ones. If you wish a particular area turn up sharp! Another downside (and can be a big one for most) is no mobile phone signal on site. Short walk out will get you some signal. Also only Wi-Fi is a hotspot near reception - again an issue for some.

Great site, great location, very well run.

Great site in an excellent location. Yellowcraig is well laid out and the wardens do a tremendous job of keeping it clean and tidy. Check in is straight forward. Arrival and leave times are made absolutely clear on booking and prior to arrival. The facilities are spotless. This is our second visit to Yellowcraig, once in a busy August and very recently when there were fewer units on site. I can’t criticise the site, the wardens or the facilities on either occasion and will definitely return. My only criticism (and this applies to other club sites) is not being able to choose pitches, which is a pain. If you book far enough ahead, I’d be more than willing to pay upfront to choose a pitch. Or even be able to reserve a pitch on arrival for family or friends that are turning up within the next hour or so. I don’t understand why this isn’t manageable especially in the quieter months. It seems to be a ‘rules is rules’ policy rather than common sense. Perhaps one for the club to consider reviewing.

Great site but apparently not for everyone

Arrival is about the only time you’ll see the wardens unless you go hunting for them and even arrival is quite “basic” with no real customer care being offered. Don’t expect to hear there is a great pitch here that will suit your unit - its more like try this area and this area. I personally think this could be improved upon massively. The site is very clean and tidy with fantastic access to the beach and local villages & pubs. Don’t go to yellow Craig’s if you are waiting on an important phone call or email to come as the service here is practically zero. All that bad news also comes with no real TV service either so even with your own router you’re not really going to be watching much Tv. This can surely be made better by the CAMHC for the high prices you pay at Yellow Craig’s. Toilets are dated but very clean and hot powerful showers! Good food close by in Direlton Castle Arms and also in N. Berwick. Yea there are plenty dogs at this site but the dog walking area is superb and very clean / well maintained. Nothing much to moan about at this site but a lot of the reviewers seem to have managed it for some reason. This site is a definite if you have a dog and / or love the beach.

Love Yellowcraig

We have been visiting Yellowcraig campsite for many years as a couple, with grandchildren and with our dog. The location is perfect, beach, villages, lovely walks, near to North Berwick. The wardens on site are great, friendly and they keep the site clean and tidy, recent years there have been lovely floral displays so lots of effort is being put in by the wardens. My only criticism is that for a busy and popular site that is always packed over the summer the club have made no investment in updating the facilities in the years we have been regular visitors. Many other guests have also commented that the toilet block is very tired and dated. Last year we visited a commercial site in North Berwick which was slightly cheaper and the facilities were much superior, we have to think hard whether there we return and I know others have said the same. It’s such a pity..

Lovely peaceful location

We loved this site for the following reasons: proximity to a beautiful beach; generous space allocated to each caravan or campervan; peaceful location; excellent washing up area; spacious shower blocks; hot water; pretty pollinator-friendly planting around the site. Yellowcraig has a fun, friendly vibe and it was a pleasure to stay there. Some reviewers are described the toilet blocks as 'tired' but that seems a little unfair - yes, the tiling scheme is a little dated, but the facilities are spotlessly clean and very well- maintained. We stayed there out of season, so there was no shortage of pitches to choose from. But I can imagine the lack of allocated pitches would be very frustrating in high season.

1st Holiday in our new Motorhome

The location was wonderful, the first night we walked into a place called Durlinton which was absolutely gorgeous, lovely little pub where we enjoyed a refreshment, the second day we walked into North Berwick it was a lovely walk into town. Plenty to see and do, we enjoyed a lovely fish supper in the lovely garden, we saw some lovely deer on our way back to Yellowcraig. The only downfall was the Wifi which did not work at all and we had to use our own data even after signing up to the yearly carvavan club wifi. Disappointed the shop did not sell fresh produce like fresh rolls and eggs!

Very Expensive, not value for money and Dogs, Dogs and more Dogs!

Firstly the booking system! Trying to genuinely book a pitch in advance is a nightmare. If you are trying to plan ahead and book specific sites it’s almost impossible. Selfish club members will book up pitches weeks in advance then cancel at the last moment so leaving genuine members/bookers no availability. Site fees for Yellowcraig are now extortionate we paid £42/night. Very few pitches to choose from when we arrived at 13:00 and the ones available are very badly worn with large sections of “sand/soil” exposed. The family next to us had two very active dogs which are just allowed to run around and pester other campers and were never checked or tethered. The children of the same family decided to start digging the exposed / eroded sand from the grassed area at the end of the tarmac road section to make sand pies/castles and were never disciplined by the parents. So going back to the subject of dogs - it’s time the club started limiting the number of dogs on site - I suspect that dog numbers during our stay may have approached the same numbers as humans in site. One unit had 4 dogs! During our stay we never witnessed any site staff walking around checking what was going on and “policing” the site. The toilets although clean are badly in need of an upgrade and refit. At 13:00 daily and for the next hour or so it’s like the wacky races with people driving round and round the site frantically looking for a pitch. At one time we witnessed a caravan jam around the toilet block area and counted 6 units stuck as one caravan was unhitching and parking up. The system of booking in and being left to tour around the site to find a pitch is actually quite dangerous! So to sum up this site we were very disappointed and felt ripped off at £42/night for a worn out pitch with no other decent pitches available when we arrived. Not a good experience so we will not be back and will not be renewing our membership.

Our favourite site, but!!!

We are just back from 12 nights and have been coming here since 2007 when our boys were 2 and 6 month old and love this place and the memories it has created, this visit was a poignant one because our boys had decided this would be their last holiday with the 'olds'. Having not been since 2019 we were all looking forward to returning for one last time as a family and the site itself didn't disappoint the wardens were great, the facilities are adequate I believe I'm right that the showers received a refurb in 2018 but they are looking tired again and in need of some TLC. This brings me on to my biggest gripe and like others it involves the cost, £46.60 a night extra for WiFi! The club has to do better here to encourage new members and keep existing ones, those of us with children have no choice when we take our holidays we shouldn't be penalised and have to pay a premium, the nightly rate is massively different at non 'peak' times which coincidentally are during term time! The layout of Yellowcraig and other sites needs to be looked at as they were never designed to accommodate some of the larger motorhomes and caravans we now see! Maybe designated pitching areas are required yes you may lose some pitches but give people better more adequate space? I have always caravanned with my dogs for the last 10 years with 3 they're not perfect but they don't yap and bark and create a nuisance like the 1 in the next pitch, please if your going to bring a dog take responsibility for it or leave it in kennels don't spoil it and make the club impose restrictions which punish good owners.
