York Beechwood Site.

Excellent site with friendly staff. Very handy for us as our son lives within 5 miles of the site. I understand this is the first year it has been open all year round, because of flooding at the Rowntree site. Hope it continues to stay open for the full year.

A very good experience...

This is a very good value for money site, at times when children are charged 1p per night. The facilities are good and the wardens extremely helpful too. This is a very quiet site positioned excellently for the A64 and York. We intend to return.

Other member's comment's

With reference to some other member's comments regarding Beechwood Grange.Having just spent a week there not once when I visited the shower block which was daily roughly at the same time 5.30-6.00pm for my shower did I or my husband find any of them not clean. As for it being dated well I dont know what to say about that just make a visit to specksavers.Park and ride if you had read the reviews prior to your visit you would know that it was a 3 min drive in your car.I suggest if you want to be very friendly with your close neighbours and dont want to use park and ride book earlier and stay on Rowntree Park. Overall the site was very quiet and clean lovely site wardens. The only negative comment I have is people not adearing to the 5mph signs it is a camping site not a race track.

Nice site

Visited The site last weekend. Nice site, we found the toilets and showers to be clean and tidy. As previous reviews say, ideal for visiting York. Park and ride only 2 minutes drive away, it's a shame there isn't a pedestrian route there ( or maybe there is?.). Would definitely use again when visiting York.

There's lots of good reviews but did not find it that good

I can see lots have said how good the site was for them. Location is great for York, but site is dated. Toilet block is old but could still be clean. Mid week for all the site was half full only two showers open rest closed and one of them was full of mud. Disabled did not look like it had ever been cleaned.  The club has a lot of better sites. Wardens were helpful.

Great Winter Family Trip

Having had withdrawal symptoms from not using our 'van, we looked for somewhere to take the children for February half term.  York is such a beautiful city with lots to do, and so we chose Beechwood Grange as our base. Given the time of year and the amount of rain that part of the world has suffered in recent months, the site was immaculate!  2 mins drive away from Monks Cross shopping centre & park & ride into the City Centre, it really ideally located. It is such a shame that the Jorvik centre won't be open until next year after being flooded at Christmas, but the Viking Festival they put on in the centre of the city was excellent. Will definitely return.

Lovely Site

First time we've been to Beechwood Grange site, normally go to Rowntree Park. It's a great site with nicely spaced pitches. The dog field is adequate to exercise even the most energetic dog, there are also plenty of walks nearby although all pets must be inside a vehicle entering and exiting the site due to being next to a stud farm. There is a lovely playground and separate field for kids to play in which was good. Although you are next to the busy A64 the traffic noise is not as bad as we expected, in fact it was more like a steady drone in the background and not as intrusive as it is at some other sites. Would definitely recommend Beechwood Grange and look forward to returning soon.

Typical CC Site

Called here in January as Rowntree was still closed. It is a typical club site with excellent facilities, clean and tidy, and in a good location for trips out. Beware if you have no transport and want to walk the dogs as you are not allowed off the site with dogs, not on a lead or even carrying them, they must be inside a vehicle to travel on the access road which belongs to Horse Stud. Its a 15 minute walk along the road to a pub a Toby Jug. and a 10 minute car ride to the Monks Cross shopping centre, and park and ride, which we used to get us into York. Very easy to use and convenient easier than parking in York without the hassle of trying to find a car park and then wondering how many hours to put on the ticket. The Park and ride is free parking and the bus fare was £2.80 return. The only criticism i have is to do the diabolical excuse they have for WIFI not a problem if you don't need it but just to get my email was a total pain, they said they are trying to block heavy content usage like Facebook, streaming movies etc. which is a good thing, but even the clubs own web pages were taking 5 minutes plus just to load up, this is very basic web browsing, and is a total disaster. I paid for wifi for the full year and it is not fit for purpose. It is not just this site as we had just come from Bridlington and the wifi there was just the same. If the club can't supply a useable system then they should abandon it all together instead of upsetting club members by charging them for something that doesn't work. Imagine buying a motorhome, and finding out they had put a lawn mower engine in it, thats what the club is doing, but hey they have charged you for it anyway
