New Year at Beechwood Grange

This was our third new year at York Beechwood Grange, this site is well located for visiting York and the Monks Cross Park and ride is only about 1.5 miles from the site. If the weather is poor and you’re in to shopping as well as the Monks cross shopping complex there is also Clifton moor and York designer outlet a short drive away.   There is also a Toby Calvary offering good food and drink and within walking distance of the site.  On our last visit the site as usual was clean and well maintained however two of the six showers in the gents toilet block were out of action for our entire visit and became very busy each morning. I understand work is to be carried out to the toilet blocks over the winter period and this may explain why the showers were not being repaired. The wardens once again put on a New Year party with pie and peas and quiz and raffle ect and we enjoyed a great night with family and fellow members with all proceeds going to charity, many thanks to the wardens for all there hard work and efforts in putting on the event. If you’re thinking of visiting the York area you won’t go far wrong at York Beechwood Grange.

Enjoyed a great New Year break

The site is very well positioned for visiting York and surrounding areas. Also, very close to continuously developing Monks Cross shopping complex including Park & Ride to the city centre. Well planned site with good facilities. Only down side is not been able to walk off site with dogs. The Wardens looked after us well during our stay making us feel very welcome, also arranging a great New Years party to celebrate 2015.

What a lovely break we had here ??

We had a fantastic time at Beechwood.  It's a lovely site, nice and quiet, friendly people. The wardens here really make the difference. They are fantastic. Warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble to them. It is sad they are all moving from Beechwood but we will follow them and visit them at Wharfedale ??  The site is near everything you might need, countryside, shopping centres, park and ride for York City centre, plenty to visit in York, nice pubs around.  Thank you for a lovely New Year and we will be visitng Beechwood again soon.

Great for touring and shopping

Dates of stay:-  21/12/14 - 05/01/15

Wardens welcome on this visit:-  This was the best warden welcome we have ever had at a club site. All the wardens were very friendly at all times. Clearly, the wardens are getting better.

Location:-  Just off the notorious Hopwood grove junction on the Ring Road.

Site:-  Just spent 2 weeks at the site which was in a great location for visiting York and North Yorkshire. The site is situated up a long drive but is easy to find if you follow the instructions given by the club. The site is large, but well laid out with one shower block centrally located. The block was kept spotless whilst we were there and the site was virtually full. The site is kept clean and tidy and grass kept nice and short. Their is a large field for children to play in if they so wish. Their is also a large enclosed field for exercising dogs safely. We found the TV reception ok, TV point are not provided. The WI-FI was cronicly slow, but I don't know if it has been upgraded yet, wasn't just contention causing the problems, as there were only 5 vans on site on the last day, and it was still slow. 3G on my phone was faster than the Wi FI on my IPad Air.

Groceries:- There are 2 large supermarkets close by, ASDA, Sainsburys, with a Morrison's a little further away. The reception does sell a good range of food along side of Eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, milk etc as well as ice creams.

Around and about close by:- Thare is a Toby Carvery just across from the entrance junction on the A1036.  A five minutes drive will take you to Monks cross shopping park with big name shops such as M&S, John Lewis, Boots, Debenhams etc. There is also a number of well known chain resteraunts. Here you will also find the nearest Park & Ride which will whisk you into historic York in around 10 minutes at a reasonable cost. If you want P&R direct to the National Railway museum, use the Rawcliffe Bar P&R just a bit further round the ring road (A1237) anti clockwise. Leeds or Harrogate is about 30 minutes, and the East Coast around 1hour/35 miles, ish, away.
