Fantastic 5 day break

Just got back from a 5 day break.  We stayed on one of the newer hard standings which was in a nice area of the site. We enjoyed numerous visits to the centre of York where there was plenty to do by day and night.  There is also an excellent retail outlet just a short car ride away.  Can't wait to revisit again soon.  No wonder this is such a popular and busy site! Thanks to the wardens for their hard work.

rowntree park

love this site, easy to find great location within 10-15 mins walk of the town centre. lovely clean site with excellent facilities..love the upgrade to the showers which are excellent. the removal of the old brick building near the riverside is a real asset. only problem is you have to be super quick to book on here as nearly always full...love York.

Great city site

As always a great site to stay at on the doorstep of York town, friendly helpful wardens, pristinely clean and full of lovely flowers.

Brilliant for exploring York

An immaculate site. Very clean, very tidy. However, it felt very regimented. I think the staff were very proud of their site but felt that I had to be so careful not to intrude. My overall impression is shaped by the arrival of 4 customers at 11.55 but no-one being aloud in until 12.00! I was half expecting Basil Fawlty to check us in! A more relaxed and friendly welcome would have been appreciated.

Fantastic location

Only a 10 min walk into city centre.  Unfortunately difficult site to book into as very popular. Usual high standard of cleanliness.  A ghost walk is good and a lovely walk is to go around the walls of the city. Will try and book into this site again.

Short weekend

Had tried a number of times to book for a summer weekend, mainly bank holiday but always full up. Managed to get in mid august which meant a short weekend but wanted to try out site. Easy to get to considering the central location. Had a lovely pitch , plenty of room even with our twin axle. Ideal to walk into York & all it has to offer. Felt it was a well laid out & good looking city site. My one complaint having arrived around 20:00 on Friday evening due to heavy traffic, very disappointed to have to be out by 11:15 on Sunday morning . This made a short trip for us. I support the principle as the access road is quite narrow, but I would rather see a later arrival requirement as for those with children or who work full time will likely be arriving later anyway . So though lovely I doubt we will return for some years until we retire & can arrive at 12:00 & get the most out of the trip.

GREAT SITE - NOT IMPRESSED WITH PITCH 81

Used this site many times but this was our first stay in the newly formed area. We were allocated Pitch 81 and on arrival it was pouring down and poor visibility. Pitch 81 is terrible for a twin axle unit having signs at both sides making it extremely tight to reverse or drive on to and barely enough room for both car and caravan on pitch. We were somewhat surprised that this space had been allocated to us by the wardens as being suitable for a twin axle when there were much larger pitches close by unoccupied when we arrived. Site is brilliant and has everything you could want but not impressed with the pitch allocation by the wardens which would have been more suited to a smaller caravan or motor-home. Seems silly to have a small motorhome on a pitch with masses of space they are not using or is needed, yet barely enough room on pitch 81 to open the car door without hitting the caravan for a twin axle and tow car !!!!!!

YORK ROWNTREE PARK SITE

A very good site, excellent standard of cleanliness with good space on each each pitch. Excellent for going into the city, as stated, only a 10 mins walk and you are into the sights, pubs etc. Look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon.

Great Site

Stayed on this site for 4 nights last week second visit in about 10 years it's a great location and very well run by the staff however the only gripe I had was not being allowed to put a small sun canopy up on my pitch because it was classed as a non awning pitch so it would be too small yet my daughter came on one day to visit us and they parked there car next to mine on the same pitch along with my caravan so loads of room it just seemed a bit mean that's all.

pitched in new area

Another great stay, fun welcome by the wardens dressed in Elvis outfits, great organisation getting the entrance clear and everyone to pitches. we were on the new area a great big awning pitch no 89. Great for us as close to exit for getting dogs off site. A little bare at the back of the pitch as the shrubs still need to grow, but we weren't disturbed by people passing by the fence but might bother light sleepers or those early to bed, until the shrubs grow. Great location for all, plenty if dog walking along the river. Highly recommend the Masons Arms pub, great food, dog friendly inside and out. Dog walk turn right out of site along the river, cross millennium bridge lots of open space to throw balls, head back towards town on this side you reach the Masons Arms. York has masses of pubs, shops, restaurant, many pubs dog friendly.
